Hello everybody, I was just wandering if anyone has a wiring diagram specifically for the JBL stereo in a 1992 SHO as I am trying to wire in a new stereo myself and it would help quite a bit. The other thing I wanted to know is if the clock in the 1992 SHO lights up with the headlights, as I am not sure if a bulb is just burnt out, or if this clock never was intended to light up, as I have noticed the design changed by 1993. Thanks for any help.

I was going to buy aftermarket harnesses but my new stereo has a function that works with steering wheel, or in our case side of the gauge panel, stereo controls, but it has to be spliced in to the harness, so if anyone knows where I can find a good wiring diagram of the audio system for 1992 please let me know.

You'd need the JBL harness and amplifier bypass harness, both available at BestBuy and the like.

The LCD clock does in fact use a small bulb that is replacable. I replaced mine with a blue LED (write up in progress) to match my instrument cluster and radio (Alpine CDA-7893). Next will be the EATC head... :thumb:

You can either buy the whole assembly from Ford or just wire in a new bulb into the bayonette base. When you pull the bulb out of the clock you will see a blue boot that fits over. That is usually reusable. I like 18V bulbs to avoid premature burnout.

I would NOT replace the whole clock just because of a bulb. The 92 had the best clock of all Gen 1 and Gen 2s IMHO.

While you're at it with the dash apart, inspect the other bulbs like the one for the headlamp switch. Chances are that is out too. The 92 dash is very nice lit up at night with all the bulbs working.

Thanks for the tip Carl, I didn't know the headlamp switch lit up either, so I replaced that bulb as well, and what a difference at night! Thanks everybody for your help, I have donated $10 to the SHO forum in your honor.

 Wow, that's a first for me. Anyway, the idea of asking for help and getting it is why I like using these boards/fora/listservs.

The funny thing about some of these lamps is that even for someone like myself that has owned my car since it was new, changes happen slowly and you don't even realize sometimes that they've stopped working.

BTW, mine is a Red 92 with a 3.2L.
