I thought I would share what recently happened to my 92. I got the car around 2001 and have done a lot of various repairs over the years. Two or three months ago the gf and I were traveling to a friends birthday party when the car shut off. It happened in 5th gear at about 3,000 rpm minutes after full throttle acceleration. The car cranked, had fuel pressure, but would not start. After a rollback ride and a few days not wanting to look at the car, I swapped the IGN mod-still no start. Then I pulled the timing cover-all ok. I then installed a 1990 B9B1 computer and it instantly started.
