I have a 1992 Ranger 5spd supercab and I am planning to install a 3.0L SHO engine into it. I know most everyone else goes straight for the 5.0 drop, but I think this will be easier. I do not know because I have done niether. I have a few questions though. I want to know if the intake can be turned 180degrees so that (in my ranger) the intake will be feeding from the front. I also want to know, if that is not possible, if it is possible to rotate the throttle body (the outlets into the intake as an axis) 135 or so degrees from its current position so the the throttle body will be feeding from atop the intake runners. I have seen pictures of a 1989 Ranger that Ford built with a SHO motor, my idea is similar to the tube that feeds into the intake. But i want to run a ram air hood, so that the air comes throught the slot in the hood, through an cone air filter, through the MAF, into the trottle body and on to the intake. I know its gonna be a long road, but I cannot wait till its done. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

As for the question concerning the intake being swapped 180 degrees...

I guess so shrug I dont see why not... But I wont say it is a direct fit going the other way because Ive never seen it done

Good luck wink

Ok, call me crazy, but I think it would be easier to take a front clip off of a SHO complete with drive train and smack in onto the truck cab and back? A couple of fender brackets and a bumper support and bang zoom! No?

Yes, the upper intake is symetrical, and can be removed, turned around 180 degrees, and re-installed - it needs to be spaced up about 3/8" to clear the upper cam belt cover, but it'll work.

I was wondering the same thing a few months ago, when I first got the idea to swap an SHO V6 into my '66 Porsche 912, and after lots of research, I came across a few SHO motor swap sites. I hope you find them as interesting and useful as I did:

I've also seen pics of SHO V6's swapped into a Cobra kit car, a '37 Ford Coupe, and a Ford Festiva. I think my project will be the first Porsche/SHO combination, though. A "PORSHO"?

Hmmm.

its the underhood pic of the Ranger SHO Ford made, with some circles and notes on it. you have to go to the end of the album to see that picture. the rest is a pic of my truck, my first car, and me. if the link doesnt work, tell me.
