I just got my Dynomax exhaust put on and let me be the first to tell you that whoever said that the 92-95 cat back exhaust that Dynomax makes will fit on a 89-91 with "minor fittament changes" is full of shit. The resonator and pipe is not straight. I had to have a shop do this as a custom job. RCM emailed me saying that all I needed to do was change the muffler hanger at the end. ********. I wish it was that easy. Anyways, it does fit A.K.A. CUSTOM FITTED, however, and it does sound pretty good.

The resonator pipe is not straight for the rod shifter, but you can still use it in the 89. Just because you don't have a rod shifter in the car, doesn't mean the bent piece won't work. The only thing you should have changed was the rear muffler hangers, everything else should have bolted up just fine. It would not have been similar to your stock exhaust, but it is an AFTERMARKET exhaust...

We've installed several of them on Gen I's without any problem, just longer rubber hangers in the rear. Both original cars with cable shifters and modded with rod shifters.

Sounds more like the shop you used to install the setup is the one that screwed you.
