Here is the finished plasti-dipped SHO. The process took 2 days in total. Its better than wax (Protection wise), and cheaper than vinyl wrapping the SHO. The plasti-dipped should last for a long time, depending on the weather abuse. The project cost me $350 (4.5 gallons of plasti-dip (black to white conversion), electric sprayer, and 3M painters tape) (FYI do your own research on the materials to bring down the cost) Preparation was a breeze. No sanding required. Original paint was untouched. Overspray can be easily wipped off or peeled off when dried. On a closer look, the car will have a rough texture due to the plasti-dip.

It looked way better in black. And I hope your paint was REALLY clean and waxed before you dipped it, otherwise its going to be a PIA to get off.

Had the car for 10 years now, I was going to do a flat black theme.....but its a black car again...time to change the theme. The car was waxed before the dipping process ;)

What kind of electric sprayer? What does black to white conversion mean (starts as black if not specified to be some other colour?) and did it cost extra, and who carries this product?
Any way to get it not pebbly?

The car was painted black, now it's plasti-dipped white.

Well, I guess it is a Wagner Power Sprayer, but an upscale model.
The video was a great help in explaining how things work. The reason I wondered about the Wagner Power Sprayers was because you can only use them when you have the gun level to the ground. There is no above or below painting. It seems that bent pickup at least partially solves that problem.
Great piece of information, It is a very unusual product.

I did a sort-of similar paint job to the bed, fenders, and bottom trim line of my 82 F150, but used paintable, black undercoating, essentially gravel guard, and I must say it looks fantastic.
