I just got done fixing an electrical problem and did the upper 60k. After all was together and done i took the car for a ride and i have no speedometer. The tach seems to work although it is now stuck under the pin. Are there any electrical connections that run the speedo or is it simply mechanical with it coming from the transmission.

Check on top of the transmission where the spedometer cable goes in. There is a VSS (vehicle speed sensor) attached to the cable there that provides info to the ECU, but it doesn't affect the spedometer as far as I know.

If the cable is firmly installed into the tranny then it may be unhooked somehow from the back of the instrument panel?

Did you take the panel off recently? If you need to fix the spedo cable back there you could fix the tach problem too... :thumb:

Hope that helps.

When i got my SHO it had a bad battery and when i jumped it off the tach went under the pin also. When i put my new one in i tried to hit the poc. cable side to see if it would go back....no luck. I had to pull the plastic clear lens off and spin it back around. It doesnt take long at all and when i was done it worked just fine. I was wondering if you disconnected the battery and when you hooked it back it might have caused it to do it. Hope it helps.

For the tach. Just take the car out and red line or at least rev it up real good. The tach should pick the needle up. For the speedo you should pull the upper and lower section apart and see if the speedo moves if the upper section is turned by hand. If not it either the cable or the speedo head. You will have to take the head out to repair it. If it does turn the problem maybe the lower cable or the VSS.
