Try getting in touch with Todd from TCE. He has SHO motors in off-road vehicles. I could not find the engine weight in the manual.

Olympic, does this seem right????/

from your link:

Ford Taurus SHO 3.0/3.2 465 lbs
Ford 289/302 V8 460lbs

Our engine can't actually weigh as much as a 5.0L, can it?

Must be all those extra camshafts!!! I have heard before that the 289/302 was lighter than our Yamaha's. The 302 also fits into a tighter space, but does need a litle extra length.

Interesting,,there are a few F1 Yamaha engines on that list.

I'll to remember to bring a scale up to the shop tomorrow & weigh the individual components (block only, crankshaft, heads, etc.); we'll have to ballpark accessories & covers, etc., otherwise I'll be there all night.

Yep. Big intake, tall heads, 4 cams, etc. Heavy stuff. I believe Todd weighed his about 480 lbs. Trans is 91 lbs (with stock diff). About 100 with a quaife.

302 is a pretty compact and light motor. Throw on some alum heads, and it gets even lighter.

Seems the heads are like 35 lbs bare, block is like 120 bare, crank is 46, clutch and flywheel are 40, etc. Adds up....
