One that works. I have 4, and 3 have no reception and one has no illumination

Depending on your budget for this you may have to look into maybe repairing the no illumination one? How? Don't know but there are electronics whiz folks who can do that sort of thing.

Or 90 and 91. If it works, I could grind the mounting rivits and fabricate brackets.

Talked to/emailed a couple repair places after a Google search. Sending one of the no receptions in for repair. Was advised that if it could be fixed, that type of repair would have the best chance of success .

I see that you already found a place, but Southern Radio has fixed them in the past. A dealer even sent one of mine there years ago.

Speaking of 89 head units, when they sent one in back in the early 90s, the return one they got was the 90-up style with the 4 holes for removal in the face. I never tried to remove that one, so I don't know if the coat hangers would have slid it out.

I had been gradually losing reception on my current 89, acts as if the antenna connection isn't good. I now have virtually no reception from the tuner, but the cassette works fine. I figured that it was an issue in the antenna circuit. Never had the issue with it in prior SHOs.

I am losing reception in the 91. Ruled out the antenna by swapping them out. If this place fixes the 89 radio, I will send them the 91. If they cant, I will try southern radio.

Could be, I'll have to dig through old emails on my laptop. I was reminded of them when Bill Strobel bought my white 89, and I gave him a couple of 89 head units (aftermarket was in the dash). He got one repaired by Southern, IIRC, but that was 4 years ago, and I forget stuff!

"United Radio" is who Ford uses now. I have to send in 3 or 4 radios a week for repair. Warranty and customer pay both get sent to the same place. They also do cluster repairs. Old and new. I can get you address and contact info tomorrow if you like.

Yes, please, in case the place I sent it to doesn't work out
