I don't see you auctally getting that goodof mileage i mean I'm not callingyou a liar butthe best I could get was 26 highway and like19 city and the was cat footing it what is done to your car? Hybrid convertion?

There is always some natural variation between cars, but I agree that those numbers seem pretty far toward the long side. Perhaps there is some calculation error involved and a small sample size, as getting to the same spot in a fill up each time is not a sure thing, along with a very, very light foot, etc. to get to the margins of the high end bound. Certainly such numbers as a regular and accurate count would be highly unusual.

I got 21.3 last week. That is probably the most I have gotten for several years. In town probably about 17 or lower.

I'm no way getting a constant 21 city, probably should of worded that a bit different. It's more-so a peak of 21 that happens VERY often and it really can vary if I'm on the throttle a lot. I'm seeing more-so on average of 19mpg city. I probably also should of noted that I have a light foot most of the time! :p

The ratios are about the same with my Mazda MTX as the MTX IV. 3K in 5th is about 74 MPH. This is a shorter gear than fourth is in the ATX.

My 96 MTX gets 21 MPG mixed driving weather I am whipping on it, or babying it, so naturally I whip on it all the time - for the entire 40K+ I have put on it.

actually calculated my mpg on my last tank, was 18.5mpg which shocked me because I calculated it when i first bought the car (07) and got about 17 if I was lucky. I suppose I don't have as much of a lead foot anymore. Although I live off the interstate, my drive to work consists of me merging (so i get on it a bit) and then immediately getting off the interstate at the next exit.

When I drove to Atlanta and back in November of 07 I got about 27-28mpg.

I forget the exact number, but the best I have ever gotten was on a trip across the prairies where we took one of the back highways. Long, straight, flat, and no traffic. You could set the cruise control and nothing would happen for hours at a time. I think it was somewhere around the 30mpg mark, but I am sure it was due to the conditions being basically ideal for low fuel consumption even at fairly high speeds (I think I set the cruise at ~75 mph, it was some time ago, so I am hazy on the details).

In the almost completly stock 99 on our way to the SFO convention (2004), with our 2 Girls (at the time) in the backseat and a trunk crammed full for a three week trip for 4 people, while my wife was riding Co-Pilot we were getting 26 on the flatter stretches of highway.

That's when the thing wasn't running right either - it was a little flat until about 4.5K.

That problem turned out to be a coil once it got bad enough and I found it. Nice to hear that my car motivated someone else to enjoy what Ford should have built in 1996...

Hmm on about 253 miles and the light came on about 8 miles ago. Not bad again. I love it when it warms up and the car runs a little leaner compared to winter.
