I was reading on the V8sho website in the section about wheel size alternatives and they were saying that 18's significantly hurt ride quallity. Anyone have anything to say about this from personal exprience?

Any larger rim is going to hurt your ride. You have to find a medium. Ofcourse a larger, lighter wheel with harder, stickier rubber is going to hurt your ride. You could counter act this with less stiff struts but then your sacrificing performance. If you want good looks and better performance, you'll have to sacrifice some luxeries!

You're in luck

I was actually in a 98 SHO with 18's and it makes the ride alot more rough. Not to mention it adds extra weight. I wouldnt go any bigger than a 17".

This was the direct wording...

"SHO Shop reports very poor ride quality without improved performance when they tried 18" Rims, this is a cosmetic only mod."

Don't go with 18s if you're not lowered. Even my 17s made my car look like it had a huge wheel gap before I had it lowered.

One of the big car mags did a test a while back with a Honda and they started out with the factory 15" wheel and tested a 16, 17 and 18" wheel as far as handling, skidpad, etc. They found that the 17" wheel/tire combo consistently performed the best.

I couldnt agree more with Mark, you will not like the result if you put 18's on your car without changing out the springs.

I downgraded from 18's to 17's in hopes that a little more sidewall would help ride comfort on these michigan minefields.. it does.

I run a 225/50/17 and the handling is supurb

edit: those are the 17's in my sig btw.. i think anything bigger is pushing it for a taurus..

Some of the Roush springs turn up from time to time on eBay. Also, the procedure of lowering the front strut tab as outlined on www.v8sho.com will help if no springs are available.

Some people dont recommend the eibachs because they are made for the SLO's. I ride quality didnt change that much and I couldnt imagaine rolling around wiht 18's and not lowered....here are a few pics of mine on 18's with eibachs.

whats up Paul, I just so happened to have more money than you did at the time thats all. sad thing is they are still not on my SHO yet. won't bore you with details. I still plan on using them once all the stars are aligned, but if for some reason I end up ditching them I will PM you first :thumb:

No... rousch springs.

It's awesome that someone on the forum here got them. I would be in the same boat and wouldn't get them installed forever either. :) I was only kidding about you stealing them from under me. I never have any money so it wouldn't have mattered!

revere sho, hit the quote button down at the bottom. You then can edit out just how much you want to quote in the new post.
