155 fuel pump install need help fast!!

ok well im installing a 155lph walbro pump in my car here is a pic of the stock one and the aftermarket one.

now on the stock one what the **** is that thing on the bottom of the pump do i transfer that over? how do i get it off? and from what i can tell the connectors on the top seem to be different do i need to suater here? did i get the wrong pump? please any help is appreciated i need to finish this b4 it gets dark. thanks.

Its a filter,to keep crap from getting into the actual filter.It will wiggle off,a side to side motion.Transfer to new pump.The wire connections are pretty self explanatory one has a big lead the other is small.Solder I sure hope you don't need to.Good luck!

sorry i should have been more specific not the filter the black thing onthe bottom with the metal holder i got the stock pump off just now and i have to or had to bend the tabs on the bottom of the holder cuase the new pump is to tall. anyway the connectors are diff on my new pump its two tabs spaced apart while the stock one has two right next to each other so connector on the pump housing wont fit the new pump. ill get pics.

Yeah just solder them so that the gas won't eat away from your connection. Electrical tape's adhesion lessens over time with gas flowing over it. Good luck.

That's not the correct Walbro pump for the SHO. The connector should plug in without modification. As far as fitment, you usually have to saw off a short section of the metal tubing on the discharge piping to get the longer pump to fit in place with the pulse dampner installed.

ok well its a little late now cause its in the car and it fired right up.

sdpatt, do u know what its for? the guy i got it from said mustang/taurus. can there be any negative effects? anyway heres what i did.

i busted that black connector open that u see up top and found these guys inside.

i connected like so matching them up but was afraid that the gas would have an effect on them. (this was b4 i read shofun93's post)

so i found these guys in my garage they have a plastic coating on them and put them in place of the other ones. lets hope it stands the test of time.

other then that thanks to all u guys that posted for any advice that u gave and for the good luck its much appreciated. :thumb:

your pump looks like what i installed on mine. the kit included spices and a wiring harness. snip, snip, crimp, crimp, install.

yeah i just crimped those connectors with plastic coating on them and its been in for a day now and everythings ok so i give this project a :thumb:

where did you purchase your fuel pump ?
