13k was too much, this is laughable. Worse than the 3k mile v8 SHO for $30k. :laughcry:

They obviously didn't know that it sold for $12.5 earlier this year. That car has been tapped out and I guarantee the previous seller lost a couple grand by selling it on BaT.

They have a lot of cars on that website, pricey as well.

It looked like a broker that bought it, if you looked at the eclectic collection of stuff he had previously bought from BAT.

Surprised it's up this soon, but the area where the lot is at is thick in Ford HQ employees.

$19,995 seems like it would have been a better asking price, but what do I know!

I don't think so. If Mecum was 8% or less, that's under a grand for a buyer's fee. And it's only $95 (or $99, I forget) for the Seller price on BAT.

That said, this buyer probably just took possession, after having it shipped from Atlanta, so that's at least a grand right there.

Most big auctions are 10% and then you've got shipping and reconditioning. They put some money into that car. Easily 2k. They lost money trying to flip it.

They might have sold it to LaFontaine, rather than a consignment sale. LaFontaine is a local car dealer with multiple stores, so I "suspect" it's not a consignment. Guy may have already made his money!

Love the Winnebago presented on their future classics list.
Why does this SHO keep bouncing around?

Since it is an auto, it has no value to me... And I've spent money on SHO's. I think there will be some money to be made with these cars, just not the ATX, ever.

The ATX models are starting to increase in value. I would now buy an ATX, if it were clean, documented, and relatively low miles.

And I would not spend a penny on engine mods, just sydoension/brakes/wheels/tires. Frankly, these cars are just too slow for me, and the ATX is hardly worse than the MTX.

Buy one, enjoy driving it. But when dozens of decent cars on the market run mid 13s or quicker. Some a LOT quicker. An old SHO, to me, is just a car to enjoy as built.

The last sentence... I can't enjoy the terrible ATX.

I wouldn't mind a clean Gen 1 with minor stuff done (suspension, wheels, exhaust, tune), but I'm not willing to pay what it's worth due to your other point... Lots of better cars for the money.

I don't see it as being "terrible", it's typical of all the other 90s cars with 4-speed ATXs.

That's what these are, typical 80s design cars. Yeah, the V6, and especially the V8, could really use the modern 6-9 speed ATX, particularly since they're n/a.

Sorta related, but the same reason I've lost interest in owning an old musclecar. Too many modern cars that are better in every regard. But, if I stumbled across a great deal on an original 60s car, I might go for it. But, same as buying another older SHO. It would stay stock, to enjoy for what it is.

Typical of the generation is terrible for me.

I could do a restomod muscle car, to bring it up to what I'd expect these days. Same goes with something like a Lamborghini Countach or Diablo... They drive like shit.
