Good day, eh!
I'm finally back after a 6 month cruise to the Arabian Gulf. Before you ask, it sucked.

So I sterted the car up and drove it around a little bit, and remembered a few questions I should have asked during the 6 months I had to sit and think about it.
I have a few problems, some of which may be related. I have no power to my radio or my instrument panel lights. I changed every fuse in the panel, and still, nothing. What should I check next?

The next thing is the factory alarm. It beeps and makes all the appropriate noises, but the doors do not lock or unlock when I press the key fob buttons. Any guesses?

Next, my turn signals are not flashing regularly. They go fast for a few seconds, and then they go slow. What might cause this?

I think that's it for now, but I'll probably notice a few more things while I'm stuck in traffic on the way home.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas!

Is it just a lighting problem is does the radio not work at all?

Do the Lock buttons in the car work? How about the buttons on the door?

Try changing the flasher. Also check for an intermitantly bad bulb/socket.

The radio doesn't have any power at all. No lights, no music, nada.

And I'll have to check on the power door locks inside the car. I'll get back to you tomorrow. It's like 43 out there! I'm not going out in that weather! ;)

There is a 5 amp fuse dedicated to illumination for the Instrument Cluster and radio in the fuse box.It gets power to it only when the parking or headlights are turned on.

Headlamp switch sends power through the 5 amp fuse to the Dimmer switch, then splices off to cluster,radio,ect....

Check fuse #13(5amp) with a 12v Test Light.
If it doesn't have any voltage at the fuse with the light's turned on Check headlamp switch & connector/wires(LB/R wire goes to 5 amp fuse).Sometimes the switch and connector melt.

If the fuse does have power check the Dimmer switch and for voltage at the LB/R wire on it.
It should be one of those switch's for the illumination concern.
The next thing is the factory alarm. It beeps and makes all the appropriate noises, but the doors do not lock or unlock when I press the key fob buttons. Any guesses?
Is it a factory or a Dealer installed system?

Do Hazard light's do the same thing?

If not,Check the Turn Sig.flasher, switch it with the Hazard flasher to see if problem goes away.

Let us know how you make out

MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!!!!

OK, I checked and the power door locks don't work, and the keypad does nothing. It used to set off the alarm, as soon as I pushed the first button, but now it doesn't do anything.

OK, the instruments work and the flashers are back to normal speed, at least for now. I didn't do anythinig, they just work. Another weird electrical problem, fixed by some strange stroke of luck.

The radio still doesn't work. Maybe it will tomorrow. Who knows?
