So I couldn't wait, removed the tailights and installed the Lamin-X...not camera because the wife has it, but I'm pleased with the install, took about three hours and this was my first time applying tint film.

Aaaaah Mark, you're killing me! I really want to see those lights now!
Can't you use a cell phone camera or something

I'm thinking that they will look hot on your Candy Red :thumb:

Good job on the DIY. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive but I would love to pm you with any questions should I have any when I finally get my set.

The install of tail lights were not perfect, still had little bubbles, but after a few weeks, that material can breathe and the bubbles disappear.
Cheers!

I am glad to hear you say that, I also got a few bubbles in the taillights, but according to the instructions, they recommend that you pierce them with a sewing needle. I actually carefully used the Xact-O knife and then used a fair amount of pressure to press them out. Still have a few little spots, but I think they will work themselves out over time. Lamin-X says the material is breathable. I didn't use any heat gun, and I was surprised, how nicely the Lamin-X contoured to the taillights, although it took several times of reappling to get if smoothed out.
@ Andrew any questions, I'll be glad to help you the best that I can.

Actually I heard that some professional use syringe with very small needle to burst the bubbles and remove the air at the same time without leaving apparent holes. My guy didn't use anything and was relying on time to have bubbles disappear.

AMEN to that!!!! Get out those smart phones people! :thankyou:

Andrew, don't have a smart phone so I don't think the photos will come out with any clarity, but will give it a try. However, since our cell phone only cost $25.00 monthly (for 4 phones and sharing minutes) no one else can touch our plan.

If you don't have a USB cable (which you could also use for charging), email them to yourself.

Or, if you have a choice to save them on a SIMM card, pull the card and plug it into your PC (if you have slots, or an adaptor).

Beyond any of those choices, you are probably SOL!

As I said in an earlier post, because my plan is so inexpensive, I can not send data or photos, or receive either...I do have a USB cable, but still can't figure out how to download.

When it's connected to the USB, go to Windows Explorer, then My Computer. You should see a device (besides your C drive) that looks like another HD or a flash drive. Open it up, and you may/should see a folder that contains your pictures.

That's odd. All the picture phones I've had over the last 8 years or so were able to be downloaded via USB.

Ron, it's probably easy to do, but I just don't have a clue when it comes to doing something new with a computer...

Nice man. I have a red one too, its cool to see some pics of another red one with some work done to it. I too, pulled all the logos, but I chose to leave them off altogether (its cool to have people stare at it trying to figure out what it is). How difficult is it to get this tint right and to trim the center out over the clear part? I have never done any tinting, so just trying to decide if its something I could pull off or not.

Sorry about my question there. I missed a bunch of posts above. Sounds like it might be easier to have a pro do it for me. Thanks.

WOW Mark! That looks FANTASTIC! You have to get a light tint for the headlights now to match! I love it on your red car :thumb:

Actually, after reading about the problems that the pro's have installing the tint, I feel that anyone could do it. Not going to BS you, it does take some time and patience, I probably pulled mine up 4 or 5 times before getting it on to suit me. I do think it is easier to install while the lights are on the car, because then you have both hands free to place the Lamin-X tint. Also, there is a lot of trimming that needs to be done, so hopefully you have had some experience using an X-Acto knife. Also, if you do trim out the clear, using a flexible straight edge will help a lot. It took me a total of about 3 hours to install, but I really don't see a reason to have a pro do it, the Lamin-X really is nice to work with, but FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!
