Looking at any SHO's 2013 and up. What are some of the most common things to run upon around this milege?

Fully expecting to need chains, water pump, and turbos at time, possibly even a PTU, none of which are huge concerns to me.

Not entirely familiar with these cars yet so still exploring the basics.

Thanks.

I would have to say try and find one with one owner and buy it off an individual if possible. You can tell if they took care of it and actually did oil changes on time. I wouldn't buy from a dealer or a car lot unless you have to because they will try and mask big issues and itll be out of their "warranty" before you realise something is wrong. Good luck man

Unfortunately I've been looking for 2 years now and no private party sales are found within 10 hours. I'm finding that alot of these cars were leased out.

Well if you do have to buy it from a dealer take it straight to a mechanic and make sure nothing is out of the ordinary. I wish I did more research before I bought mine, I might have to replace the entire engine. And I thought just all wheel drive was bad... Phhhh

For sure. I've got no issues with any mechanical work, I specialize in the diesel world, so Powerstrokes, Duramaxs, Cummins, IH, that's all my world...

Does anyone know if the timing chain DTCs are permanent codes? That would be a tell tale sign if someone was covering up stretched chains.

They are permanent codes in the sense that they persist between ignition cycles, and will eventually return if erased.

Right but with a permanent dtc, if they are "cleared" they are still present even if not active, they fall under permanent, which means they can only be erased by the pcm once it deems its been fixed... I guess it depends how bad they are if they are setting every so often

Also, will the 13 and up have the ability to control remote start via the app? If so, what does that costs per month and what other things can you do via the app? Homelink, is that what its called?

You may want to broaden your search radius. It's not a large production vehicle and you are looking for a subset of years.

I was looking for a low mileage 90's sho a few years ago that wasn't super expensive to cover transport. I ended up with a car from Indiana that I had to get shipped here. When I bought a '97 I flew one way to Providence RI to pick it up and drive it back same day. If it doesn't have large market presence you may have to broaden the distance.

Also if you check Facebook market place you can find them pretty quick like, personally I was checking craigslist and found like 2 within 100 miles and on Facebook there was like 10.

If you run catless downpipes without a tune and it throws the 02 code. Then you get a tune and the cel stays away. On certain scanners it will still show the rear o2 as a permanent code but wont throw cel. At least it does for mine

I bought mine less than 2 years ago with less than 40k on it. 2015 non-PP.
Zero issues to date.

Are these gen1 ecoboosts in the 13 and up?
Not sure about that question but to answer your other question with the remote start feature via the app the model has to be 15 and up I'm pretty sure. It has to have the updated Ford Sync system installed where the 13-14 doesnt have it. I have a 2013 and can't use barely any features with the app.

I have a 2015 SHO and the app doesn't do shit. I also have a 2019 f150 work truck and the app does everything. And it's only the XLT trim

My 2015 can not be remote started with an App. The sync 3 feature might support it. I have sync 2.

From what I've seen, plenty. It is a weak point though. The chain will eventually stretch beyond the single tensioner's ability to take up enough of the stretched out slack. Newer designs are going to 2 chain tensioner setups.
