Well I completed the entire 100K tune up for my ATX this past weekend and everything seemed successful. Only replaced about 4 shims and all the rest were in very good spec and condition. Got timing done which I guess had slipped some cause the belt did not line up at the top and it was loose and could see stretch marks in it. Everything else seemed to go well also.
I didn't expect much performance increase from this but it almost seems like I have lost some since then. Maybe it is just me though and the extreme cold that hit the next day. If any one has had this experience I would love to know if it is something I did or just in my head.
I am so relieved to get it done though.

half-way there, I think.
Are you sure you got the cams and crank lined up correctly?? Proper gap on the CPS?? I did my 60k this past weekend except I didn't do the valve shims. I notice that it idle a little better - no slack in the timing belt is my quess.

I lined up the marks on the two cams at 12 o'clock and then the crank about 5 o'clock. The timing belt marks lined up perfectly with this. Though it was difficult to get on. Is it possible they are a rotation off? If so how do you know.

If you were able to line up the white lines on the belt with the index tick marks on the three pulleys and the index lines on the cam cover and oil pan, you did everything right. Drive healthy.
