Yes, that is what I do. It's called a safety pop-off valve. It's like a BOV, however, it pressurizes both sides of the diaphragm under boost and uses the (adjustable) spring pressure for determining when it will vent boost.

hmmm. so this is different from a BOV and you use it where the bov is normally located on the ss piping?

I should have been clearer. The wastegate regulates the amount of forced air going into the tb/intake. Yes the BOV prevents too much forced air from slamming the tb when its closed but only when its closed. I'm sure you know what you're talking about I just made a confusing post.
I think you're confused. The wastegate regulates exhaust going to the turbo and the BOV lies between the TB and the turbo outlet relieving pressure in the intake tract.

Its the same thing. The HKS with my SS kit can be used both ways.
Turning it into a pop off valve is just adding a boost referencing line to the bottom port of the BOV. SS did not use the bottom one instead they put nothing on it (atmosphere) it only made the blow off valve, blow off when there was vacuum. SO basically this way you are limited to boost by ur pulley or RPMS

Now when you add the other sensing line the BOV will blow off when you go into vacuum AND at a certain PSI . Doing it this way IMO is the correct way because the response is also quicker.

perfect response justin. so hows the project comin along?

Well.

Haven't touched it in a while (3 weeks or so) The weather and work + I worked on the 91. The work part is killing me. sunday is my only free time:madflame:

Fuel pump to do, Oil line return/ supply lines and battery cables/buy a battery. Thats it really.

I am debating on how to do the oil return/pulling the pan/ fuel pump. I have access to a lift about 5-6 miles away. So I am trying to figure out if I can hook everything up, minus the blower, fp, and oil lines. Still trying to figure out if I can just run the car N/A by keeping the rpms low. IDk though because the big inj are in. S/C guys any imput. Someones had to snapped a belt away from home. TIA BTW it would be on a SS LPM tune if it matters. If i keep it under 3500 rpm it should run like a normal N/A car right??

A lift is alot easier than in a TINY garage!!!!!!!!!!

If you had stock injectors, you'd be fine. With larger injectors, you'll start running very rich. Depending on the size, you can actually run too rich for the computer and it will quit "learning" until you restart it. If you had the LPM account for the injectors, you'd run just like stock.

theres nothing wrong with the wastegate. You keep turning the adjustment rod the wrong way and making the waste gate half open. Dont wire it shut or the car will be sitting in you drive way broken

No paul, I didn't have any problems shorting it up at all. I don't know where you got that from? It took two tries though, the first time I was seeing alot more boost than I wanted so I backed it off a half of a turn. Its perfect now. And I never said anything about wireing it shut.

There seemed to be some confusion with what I meant. I wasn't welding it shut or wireing it shut at all, just shortening up the rod on the internal wastegate. If you did that it would make crazy boost and blow shit. Anyways, doing this worked and quite well.

And for those of you that noticed I said spool the wastegate. I realize that doesn't spool and I meant to say turbo.

Anyways, I tightened up the rod tonight so it is now the turbo is spooling up a **** of alot faster, it was not tight enough before.

It did up the boost slightly, but now instead of seeing one psi at 4K in second gear, I'm seeing like 9psi. It deffinatly will spin them off nicely now :)

Weld it shut :):thumb:

I disconnected the vacc line to my wastegate a few min before it caught on fire the second time. it made a bit over 20psi and did a massive burnout (both wheels) from a stop to 60mph and had a slight miss immediately after i let off the gas. Cracked piston and popped a cam seal and dumped massive amounts of oil on my up pipe and down pipe (they share the same space). It was sort of a accident because I was showing hydrosteam6 my car (he used to own a SC SHO) he was impressed by the power delivery and the massive 2 wheel burnout but i'm sure the fire and broken engine took away from the wow factor... oops

Thanks Reiley.

Update: Still trying to get the tune perfect with the tweecr. Car is running strong and well.

1st is now worthless
2nd breaks loose above 4K
3rd spins sometimes

Tried to do a launch the other day and failed horribly. Reved it to 3K, preloaded the clutch and tried to slip it.... Didn't work to good, it just spun and axel hopped for like 15 feet. Left 2 sweet black marks though.

Just wanted to thank Gmail, YamahaSHO, Toolman and especially area91 for all of there help thus far with my car. It woudlnt' be near where it is without all of them. Thanks again guys, your good friends.
