SHOs before HOs
Whats up fellas?
The K frame is on the floor and out from under the SHO. :woohoo:
It was easier then i had expected. Nothing so rusted it had to be heated so that helped alot. It was time consuming. Getting the car over the motor and pushed backwards was harder then actually disconnecting everything and dropping the motor.
PB blasted the y-pip studs night before and everything fine. The only snag i had was the steering knuckle was still connected by one bolt which kept the rest of the shit from dropping out.
I have pics but no intronet at the house right now. Currently at work.
I still have to order the shim rental kit and will be picking up some ASFB at the same time. Mine are so rotted they're in peices. So is the donut gasket for the y-pipe. Id like to grab anything else i missed while im at it to speed things up, this leads to my question.
I wanted a full front and top 60k. Naturally i used the list provided by shophoenixproject. I also added a couple things to the bottom. Heres the list:
1. Valve shims
2. Spark plugs
3. Plug wires
4. Valve cover and plug well seals
5. Intake manifold gaskets - 2 required, not always needed
6. Thermostat - Recommended:
7. Oxygen sensors - 2 required
8. Timing belt
9. Accessory belt(s) - 3.0 requires:
10. Water Pump - 3.0 requires:
11. Water pump gasket set - not required, recommended
12. Lower radiator hose - not usually required
13. Crankshaft position sensor (CPS)
14. Front main crankshaft oil seal
15. Camshaft oil seals - 3 seals required
16. Cylinder Identification Sensor - Only if not working
17. Rod bearing kit.
18. Oil pan gasket kit.
Can anyone think of anything else i'll need? Id just really hate to have to wait another week on a part or gasket i neglected to pick up.
I'm also installing a clutch. In the clutch install writeup on shophoenix it lists everything "needed" to do the job but not any gaskets. I know i picked up the MTX seal set and im pretty sure i picked up the rear main seal but i wont know for sure until i go home and look into my box of goodies. The rear main is what seals the transmission to the block isnt it? Thanks for the help guys.
I'll hold up on renting the shim kit and ordering the ASFB until a couple people can look through this post and point out anything else i need. Thanks for the help.
Atop of all this i having a million little projects to do on the side. Cleaning the interior. painting the intake, valve covers, wheels, calipers etc.. Getting the diff welded. Drain plug in the mtx pan. and the list goes on. Its a bit overwhelming but if i end up having to overlook some things because of time, then shit happens. It'd be nice to get it all done though.
