Could be leaking in the rack. Did you check the reservoir? Could also be leaking from there.

Mine was leaking out of the shaft. I replaced the pump with a rebuilt unit. The high pressure hoses leak too. To get the HP hose fitting loose at the pump, I use a 18mm crows foot wrench with an extension running toward the front of the car to where there is clearance for a breaker bar; see photo. If removing the pump, the other hard bolt to get to is the mounting bolt on the back side. Under the car, you will notice there is a fairly open area just to the left of the exhaust manifold. Use a wobble or flex socket on the bolt with a long extension run across the back to the engine to where you can use that open space to get your ratchet or breaker bar in. Definitely replace the HP hose at the same time if you replace the pump.

Before you do anything else, take the CID sensor off and inspect inside the housing for oil. If you see any, the cam seal is leaking and that oil is running down on the PS pump making it look like there is a PS leak.

I was able to do everything from the top, but I have a 94. Used a gear wrench on the back bolt.
