This has been the best week I've had for a LONG time. Friday I got my gauges finished and installed and this morning I picked up a Cowl hood from a guy I know and installed it as well. Now I have a question for you with cowls. What do you use to hold your hood open? Will a stock rod from a 1st gen slo work? What do you use? I want more then a stick/2x4. My buddy has a 91 SLO and I can get the prop rod for free because the car is junk. Well ANY ideas will be GREATFULLY appreciated. TIA -Nick-

I just have an aluminum rod or something that one of my buddies had. A good idea is to keep a bungy cord around so you can make sure the hood wont fly off the prop rod.

slo's all had hood struts. all taurus' had hood struts. Make a metal rod, put a vacuum cap on both ends and call it good.

That's what I thought but he said he had one.

Care to go into more depth? I'm confused on what you mean by a bungy cord. Bungy the rod to what? Maybe I'm ******** but I dont get it.

I just got the aluminum rod from cincySHO when I got mine. And yea, make sure you hold the hood DOWN on a windy day. I've almost had it whip out of my hands when a large gust gets under it. it's so light!

Do I need to worry about it flying up and off the latch when I'm going down the freeway? Should I worry about hood pins?

I think they mean that it might fly up while you have the hood open in your driveway or whatever.:thumb:

Did I mention that your car looks sweet with the new hood on it. Looked great in the rear view mirror of my CSVT.

Sorry, yeah. Hood the bungy cord to the radiator support and to a hole in the hood. That way the bungy will pull the hood down onto your prop rod.
