An oil cooler leak killed my starter before, and I am wondering about the wiring for the oil pressure sensor. My dashboard oil check light is always illuminated. The wiring harness may be toasted, so what part number is that harness? Where could I get it?

Oil pressure sensor or low oil sensor? They are two different parts. The oil pressure sensor connector can be bought at any local parts store. You could just crimp on an eyelet and use a nut in a pinch. The low oil sensor connector is obsolete. You'll need to find someone with a used harness willing to sell you one.

How vital is this sensor? It's been like this for many months. My car rarely overheats.

Oil pressure I think triggers the light. This can be affected by low oil, very low rpm's, failing pump, worn out bearings etc. Make sure it is the wiring/ sensor and not something going wrong and triggering it. Oil volume and pressure sorta important

There is a Red Oil light that is triggered by low oil pressure and or bad oil pressure sensor. It is the farthest light to the left on the cluster. If this is the light you are talking about then you need to get it repaired as I think it's pretty important to know if you have low oil pressure.

On the opposite side of the cluster to the right is the Check Oil light and I believe it's Amber. This is triggered by the low oil sensor in the oil pan. If this is the light you are talking about then stay on top of your oil level and keep on trucking.
