Anyone out there remove the turbo oil feed line screen filter? I’m curious because I had a turbo shaft snap on custom built turbos. The shop stated possibly oil restriction could have been the cause.

IIRC they are suppose to be replaced with turbo replacement.

I never did remove them but I replaced them. Heard of people removing them with no issues fairly often.

Ok thanks… screens look like they don’t restrict that much but I wanted to see if anyone out there removed them for more oil flow

Personally, I would not remove them. It just takes a tiny particle of debris to wipe out the turbo bearing. With consistent 5k mile oil changes with synthetic oil I don't see a problem with the turbo oil screens.

I change my oil every 1000 miles because that’s typically a years worth of driving. Perhaps my turbo issue was with the turbo itself and not an oil restriction issue. Thanks everyone for your input. I appreciate it…
