Am I getting completely screwed by this auto shop?

So I have a 2016 SHO non-pp. My driver’s side headlight went out. Took it into a shop today. They’re telling me that with the lamp and the ballast + labor, it’s going to cost me over $700 to replace that single light. Which seems absolutely, insanely absurd to me. Is this right? Does it really cost that much to replace a single light? Or are they totally screwing me? Any insight would be appreciated.

If it's that much maybe you should source a used one and get it sent and put it in yourself. So do you need this part

DG1Z-13008-P

and also this ballast

DL3Z*13C170*A

Or does the headlamp housing replacement contain the ballast?
A new oem housing is +- $500 at Tasca

Ebay oem used parts are off the charts expensive. Must be a supply chain thing You might have better luck with online used part locator like carparts .com or others can run a nation wide search with prices

The exact thing I’m looking for is this: (photo attached)97FF34C5 1400 4F59 81C0 1FD1E773692F

I was looking online and found a 2-pack for $69.99, so I have no idea why they’d try to tell me it was $500 for a single unit.

I also popped the hood when I got home, and not only did they leave bolts out of the housing, but they also left the headlight gasket just sitting in the engine well. These guys have absolutely no idea what they’re doing. 992C5A45 7E65 4022 8F23 35DF80EA4CD2

Ok. I thought you needed a housing in addition to the other part. I found this on ebay but it ships from China so who knows how long that will take

This one looked good. At least they post the fakes in the photos. Not sure if that makes them legit or not but..
Awesome, thank you for the link! Blows my mind that these guys wanted to charge me $500 for that part…

Yeah your description sounded like more than just that so wasn't sure. If it is just that part there should be simple instructions online on how to swap that out. Good luck
