The only way to double the hp of this thing is with extreme boost. You might be better off with a car with a higher baseline out of the box. Newer SHOs come twin turbo which, with a tune and a few parts like upsized map and plugs can get you there. To get this car there you would have to replicate what this 30yr updated version does. Plus you have to make sure there are parts even available for repairs. If this car is automatic, I am not certain all of the replacements parts for a tra nny rebuild are even available anymore

What did you pay for the car? Double that amount and expect to pay that amount and plenty more if you want to double the horse power. Turbo or supercharger are your only options and I say that like they are readily available. Finding performance parts for these cars is very difficult and costly now. Shosource is the only place that offers a SC kit for these cars nowadays and I believe it runs about $7K. Then you have to worry about all the supporting mods. Stock clutch isn't adequate to support that kind of power. Stock exhaust isn't adequate to support that kind of power. The transmission cannot safely handle that kind of power without heavy upgrades($6k). If you want him to have a Yamaha with double the power then I suggest you sell that one and try to find one already built. Otherwise just take care of the required maintenance needed on a 27yo car and let him run with it.

Welcome! The Shosource SC kit is for MTX (manual transmission) cars. Nice find for a low mileage car. Post more pics.

There is not alot more power to be had with easy bolt ons. I've been at it for decades with several of the 89-95 SHO's and about every bolt on out there and couldn't recommend much that will increase performance for the cost. You can find 1-5 hp here or there but really I've taken it back to stock with larger brakes and chassis stiffening for upgrades and had to leave it alone. Alot of work and cussing for little real output increase. I wish I had a recommendation or two to point you toward that was great

the '95 is a nice generation sho but twice the hp in a front wheel drive is not a good idea.
a more realistic upgrade would be the usual; 'y" pipe, 80mm air flow with upgraded throttle body upgrade stage 2 cams, ecm tweak, reinforced sub frame bushings, sub frame connectors, '96 brake upgrade or svt cobra brakes along with the regular maintenance parts will give u plenty of scoot. a 5 speed would be better still but anything over 300hp will put this fwd over the limit for any safe street operation. IMHO.
