Thought I'd just throw this up as it's own thread as I just had another crash bar made up for another member. Don't think I'll have any of these for sale as it's a huge liability I'm not looking to partake in lol. That being said for those who are going to make some steam and want to pursue the idea of a bigger intercooler than the gearhead intercooler is this is a pretty good modification to think about.

That being said I don't have measurements as it's not my design. Here is some pictures of how much space exists and I'm thinking about possibly going to water to air intercooler with some of the new found space.

Can increase the amount of air going into the front end also as you don't have the rectangular bar in the way.

Definitely on my list of mods coming soon. The XSport has even less real estate available in stock form...need it to go the direction I'm thinking with a full custom IC setup.

If your end goal is still the 1420, then a water to air intercooler wont be best. Just spray more...

I haven't had nitrous installed since before my first set of upgraded turbos. Car is still going to be driven but I'm just toying with the idea. I've got several more plans just nothing in motion

When you guys run the 1/4 mile. Is the rollout included or does it need subtracted later? It can be 0.2-0.3 of a difference

Hmm, looking at that crash bar.... I'm not sure it's much different than running nothing at all. it would be interesting to impact test one even at low speed like 35mph.

The oem one is junk too. Extremely thin formed sheet metal. May as well be tin roofing with a couple bends. It's such a wash in weight between the new and old one. Also exactly why I don't want to produce these for anybody as talk about liability lol. @802SHO ended up with a smaller one than I did. Mines chromoly and his is regular steel tubing.

Honestly, with the location of the collision sensors I think basically any front end impact is gonna throw the air bags.

I was just hinting at more weight savings.

The oem ones are heavily tested both in house and externally. The primary thing I noticed is the way that would bend and deform compared to the oem.

So basically I'd just run without it unless you are mounting stuff to it. Lol

Risk vs reward isn't close.
