hey guys!
so long story short. I haven't bought a SHO yet because I cant find any in Canada (yes nation wide) under 100k with the P.P.
wanted to get a second opinion from SHO owners.
is the gear ratio important ?can i achieve the same gear ratio doing modifications?
can i personally turn a regular SHO. Into a P.P SHO. should I go out and buy a SHO already?

I think the non pp cars are faster in the 1/4 mile as on the pp cars it needs to shift before the end. If you upgrade a non pp to have performance pads then they will already be better then the pp pads. You can add the oil cooler to the non pp but the ptu cooler im not sure how to add to a non pp.
You can buy the pp steering wheel as i did. The only thing a non pp can't have that a pp has is the esc off feature. You can get similar results on a non pp by being stupid like me and pulling the abs fuse. Some tuners claim the non pp can have esc turned off but I have yet to see it, there was a company in Wisconsin that could disable it but i haven't seen it either.
Livernois would claim the non pp and yes pp final drive ratio didnt really make a difference but in theory 2 different final drive ratios make a world of difference.

The options you get on a nonPP were all I wanted. The only benefit to the PP is additional cooling which can be added. To each their own but i would not sacrifice the luxury for a steering wheel that someone hotglued used underwear to. And you don't gain any handling or performance from the PP...its actually horribly named...id call it the tow package or the extended city driver package or the taxi and police package or even FLEET use package.

I agree with ***, I LOVE the adaptive cruise on my No-PP, because I use it as my daily driver more than I use it on a track. So it works great for me!

There was some info out there about the PP/Non-PP, from what I remember, mod for mod the Non-PP will always be faster. Though the PP would be better for towing or for more city driving, maybe even auto cross if that ever becomes a thing.

In my extreme climate, I wouldn't ever consider a non PP.

Better gearing (the claim the non PP is faster is only by a couple of tenths), better cooling, better pistons, better pads....ect.

Yeah we have extreme cold here so the higher gearset is better for the snow/ice imo. Down in AZ with the heat, a PP would probably be preferable, or a non-pp with every extra cooling option you can find aftermarket.

Yes sir. I even upgraded my trans cooler from the PP trans cooler.

The pistons are actually better at cooling for extended idling fleet demands

Sounds like PP envy from the non PP's. :)
Funny, I was thinking the total opposite. Of course that one guy selling those custom "PP homeless guy underwear steering wheels " is making a fortune.

I've always wondered why ford doesn't even consider the SHO a performance vehicle......interesting.

If they had done a forged bottom end like the f150s these cars would have been unstoppable. There would have been zero reason to buy a mustang ever again. Could have gone full send from the get go with a tune and stomp kids worse than we already do in some cases lol

On my 2011 I was able to get a certificate from Ford Performance, but now the SHO isn't even listed.

PP shmeeP. In stock form is it technically a better car? Sure. Am I envious of advance track off button? Absolutely. But would I not own one without? Obviously not, that’s just silly. Upgrade your brake pads, install the suspension when needed and regularly maintain your PTU. Good to go. Being from the north, I’m pretty sure you don’t have much desert heat to worry about.
And...you’re not stranded when your tire blows out.

edit for:
Oh! And “faster by only a couple tenths.” A couple tenths are a pretty big deal in drag racing.

A couple tenths is a drivers race.

Oh Boy.... Glad I got my interior professionally cleaned and detailed after I bought it, including the pp steering wheel that they steam cleaned.
