Ok I just can’t sit back while my “trendy hipster beer snob“ taste is being bashed. Yes while the IPA movement has exploded with bandwagon jumpers and all brewers are rushing to put out any hopped up hazy NEIPA and saturating the market the rest of us life long craft beer fans are really enjoying the ride and ever expanding variety of new beers to try. I am a home brewer and I do several IPA’s, not because it’s cool and trendy, but because I love them and they are delicious! Along with stouts and porters of course.

Beer wise, I’m fortunate enough the live in the center of the country and most of the great craft breweries from both coasts stretch just far enough to reach me. Also, I’m about 20 miles in any direction from several greats like 3 Floyd’s, Off Square, Green Bush, Lagunitas.... and so on.

Death to Pilsner swill!

Now feel free to rain your thunder upon me.

Oh @SM105K, if you dig Guinness see if you can find a Bellhaven. Great easy drinking Scottish Ale. Cans are best because of the pour you get with the widget, but much harder to find, for me anyway.

Brother Benjamin by Green Bush is probably one of my all time favorite IPAs. Not the GOAT, but probably the best that I can find fairly easily year-round. Green Bush is always a must-visit at the MI beerfests. About 10 minutes from them is a winery/brewery called Round Barn that had some good suds, I recommend the vanilla porter.

@SM105K Given your proximity/travels to CA you need to try Speedway Stout by Alesmith. It's a high ABV (12%) but I swear it goes down just like a Guinness. It's one of the highest rated beers in the country I believe.

Sorry if I'm rambling. It's only because I cracked one of these tonight...

Yeah, but the difference is, I'm 39, and have been into craft beer before the hipsters hijacked it and turned it into wine snobbery.

I don't sniff the glass or swirl it around...and I sure as shit don't sip it!

That KBS is good, they also have another one called Breakfast Stout that I like as well.
Another one that I like but hard to get in Canada is the Lagunitas Imperial Stout, brewed in California.

Now, since I do not have big turbos, aftermarket intercooler, meth injection, ported anything or phenolic nothing to brag about, I am going to show off my beer fridge. Wife is allowed to put her stuff on the one on the right so no, I do not drink coolers or Laker.
Special editions are stored somewhere else, away from my teenage kids friends reach.

I don't think I am a beer snob but I do love to sniff a good stout or porter. Those beers have lots of different scents that you want to take in. If you are drinking an unfiltered one you also want to swirl it around so you can drink all the chunky stuff.
I started trying craft beer about 6 - 7 years ago, before that I thought they were disgusting and overpriced, drank lots of Budweiser, Old Milwaukee, Moose Head and similar.
I brought some of my friends to the dark side, I always give them little bit to try, tell them to think about them not as beers but as a "liquor", I've found that opens their mind so they are not expecting the typical beer taste.
There are so many different kinds of beers and flavors out there so why not try as many as you can... maybe I am a beer snob, but my beer belly says otherwise.
