Went to PPE and picked up some exhaust flanges. I am going to remove the 3rd cat and stock resonator. However, I am not going to bastardize the stock set up. I am actually going to cut and weld in the exhaust flanges on the rear of the stock set up and the remainder of the stock catback. We will make a direct fit/bolt in piece featuring a Magnaflow Restonator (Thanks Omahahn!) that will the connect to the PPE DP's and the new welded flanges on the stock cat back. I hate the way the 3.5 EB sounds with exhaust.

Hopefully with the stock and 3rd cat removed I can recover some boost and hopefully with the stock mufflers it wont sound terrible and be too loud. Plus I want to flex the Ghost Cam tune on some Mustangs. If I doesn't make the tone and it is too loud, I will just purchase a larger resonator (and throw the smaller one on the ST) and retry.

The good thing is, I can always just bolt the stock piece right back in.

Can't wait for the next update and some video sounds - especially with the ghost cam!!!

Found a nail in my tire on the inside of the thread. Bad place for a patch. So Discount tire ordered a new tire for me! Gets put on Monday.

3rd cat delete should be ready for Street Car Takeover this coming weekend.

Need to see some pics. Thinking of selling my recently purchased used FRPP exhaust and going back to a modified stock exhaust.

M got dropped off for the exhaust modifications.

Current set up. PPE catted DP's into stock 3rd cat and stock resonator into the stock catback/mufflers.

So the new setup will be PPE Catted DP's into a Magnaflow Resonator into the stock catback/mufflers. I will take before and after videos and post them here.

Here she is. Special thanks do my buddy Kyle for working on this. Car sounds great.

So far Sound did not change much. Zero drone, and it seems I recovered some more boost. Car runs hard.

Stock 3rd cat and stock resonator.

3rd Cat removed and added Magnaflow resonator.

Some weld candy.

Stock setup can be bolted right back into place.

I dont have a stock idle video with the just the DP's. To me the sound didnt change much.

Here is a video of my ghost cam tune with DP's, 3rd cat, stock resonator, and stock mufflers.

Here is a video of the new set up. DP's, Magnaflow Reso, and Stock muffers.

Here is a video of the new set up with the ghost cam tune. I don't think it sounds as good as the first video.

Overall I am happy. Sound didn't change much (except the ghost cam), I did recover more boost (which isn't a good thing because I am out of fuel pump completely now) and there is ZERO DRONE! I like I how it sounds so that is a plus.

Agreed on the ghost tune, it has a weak, weird tone. But the straight to Magnaflow is money. Now you've got me thinking again when I promised myself no more mods. Bastard lol...and yes the welds are a work of automotive art. Great job!

Honestly with the Magnaflow Resonator the sound didn't change in the cabin. Remember I still have stock mufflers. The biggest sound change came with the DiCunzolo TQ mounts. Not only did the car feel completely different, but the sound changed too. Both for the better.

It sounds better from outside definitely. Deeper and a little meaner. I think it suits the car nicely.

Tossed her on an impromptu dyno session.

She just won't crack 400 hp. I need turbos and a HPFP to make more power. I am at the end of the road on the stock turbo and stock HPFP set up.

That being said HP has stayed the same across the board. TQ did move however.

Stock exhaust, stock intercooler, plugs, K&N drop in, E30 tune: 391 HP 470 TQ

Stock exhaust, Gearhead Intercooler, plugs, K&N drop in, E30 tune: 388 HP 463 TQ.

Custom Exhaust, PPE Catted Downpipes, Gearhead Intercooler, plugs, K&N drop it, E30 tune: 391 HP and 494 TQ.

It is what it is. I will be taking her to the track hopefully November 8 with the new set up. That will probably be the last time this current set up gets run at the track. If things go correctly over the next couple of months, the SHO will get upgraded turbos and HPFP early next year. Fingers crossed.

Wait, what? power dropped with the GH IC?
Did you get the tune revised after installing?

Yes power dropped with the GH intercooler.

The stock intercooler bottlenecks/restricts the factory turbos which allows the boost pressure to stay high. The Gearhead intercooler does not. It is almost too big for our stock turbos.

My turbos are tired, so the GH IC makes them work harder to make the boost it used too. I made the same power but with 2 psi less of boost. So technically it is more efficient, making the same power with less boost.

The car needs both the upgrades HPFP and upgraded turbos now. There isnt anything I can do except nitrous.

The 400 mark has been a real kick in the ass for you! I figured with the latest round of mods and better weather, 400 would be easy to reach. You know what? Do the HPFP, upgraded turbos and skip right past the 400's... Crank up the boost and see what shakes loose

Tell me about it. I did notice the tq curve comes in earlier so it helps. Overall I am happy for a almost 400/500 car. With the Pump and Turbos she will really get down. Until then, she will stay in this current set up until early next year.
