Carbotech and Porterfield pads are also worth a look for heavy duty work. If EBC Orangestuff is available, that too.

Stainless steel lines are more of a bling thing but they do firm up pedal feel.

You already have a gen 5 SHO so mc and bb are not needed. I don't think you can get replacement calipers with drilled pistons, otherwise that woulda been nice too.

Consider getting rid of the shields altogether if rocks and stuff are not an issue on your area.

Shields are gone. Best available for our platform seem to yellow. I know some Baer or Brembo Upgraded Calipers are going to be needed further down the road. I will definitely look into Carbotech and Porterfield. As always thank you Manu.

Yep bigger better brakes for sure. What pads are you running? On my last car I found mid grade ceramics to be very quiet but with hard stopping my Hawks were way better. This was many years ago so I'm sure other compounds are better out there. Heck my old school dust makin performance friction semi metallics were a great street pad for how I used to drive.

I 100% agree. I was just caught off guard how quickly the brakes faded this time. Maybe the pads are glazed and compromised, or maybe I am just expecting too much of my set up. I don't know at this point.

These ceramic pads are great for daily driving, however they are not up to par with what I am asking them for. I have run Hawks on my TT Camaro's and they worked good. I am still leaning towards the EBC's at this moment.

Changed the oil in the ole Bull last night. The Mobil 1 that came out of it had 2,800 miles on it and was thrashed per my standards. Completely black and smelled like fuel. That being said, it is already packaged up and ready to be sent to Blackstone Labs for an analysis. I am interested to see what they come back with.

I switched to the Castrol Edge 5w/30 with a Motorcraft Filter. I am going to check the oil every 500 miles to watch the color. Then, when I change the oil again 3k miles I will send that off and see the difference between the two. Both samples will have a 800 mile road trip on them, hard street miles, lots of full throttle pulls, both will have at least four dyno pulls, and a track session too. So the both oil samples should roughly have the same amount of abuse on them.

I am ironing out another upgrade on the SHO right now, and when the time comes I will reveal what that is. So, keep watching.

I too just put in some Castrol edge 5-30 and the PTU got the ole Redline lightweight shockproof treatment. RDU didn’t get done dealer said it was a 7 hr job I said ok show me why. So they put it back on the lift and they said we have to take off the cover and drain it. Put it back on and refill. I said can’t u take the drain plug out and suck the old oil out / response was can’t get the hose in there down far enough to suck out the oil. I said guys do it all the time. He said well I can’t and I said your right put my car down I will do it myself. Thanks so next weekend we will do. Can’t wait for your oil tests SM105K too see if the Edge is better than the M1

Dealerships suck. What a schmuck. Yeah I am really interested to see what comes back with the M1. It really had alot of fuel in it from I could smell this time so, and it was completely black. Normally at 3k it is dark, but isn't completely black.

thats what happens when you push any motor hard the service life of the oil go's down.

I understand that. Maybe I will have to change the oil every 2K miles going forward. I plan on keeping her a good long while.

She is going to get DP, and then Turbos, then upgraded HPFP. When she clicks 500 hp / 600 tq to the tires and runs deep into the 11's I will be happy.

But it's so hard not too romp on the accelerator :mecry:.

On a more serious note, you are correct. My 13' is my daily driver so I'm trying to be more cognizant of my driving habits (not mashing the accelerator when street driving, mainly). I had an old 2006 v6 Fusion I used to beat the **** out of. Some habits die harder than others.

Not really. DP's $700 + GH Turbos $3,000 - $1,000 core return = $2,000 + Upgraded HPFP $1600 = $4,300.

$4,300 for a reasonably reliable 450/550 and a 500/600 (push) set up...is dirt cheap. My last motor was 10k in just the short block and heads. So......

All in all with these upgrades, if the car makes the power (which seems to be the case with others), I will have have a 4,800 lb sedan I can drive anywhere, anytime, in comfort. It will make great power, go into the 11's, and still looks sharp, for right at 30K.......

It is hard pressed to find another platform you can do that with, while spending so little.

Is that what it takes to go deep into the 11s with the SHO? In my former life, I had a late-90s Buick Regal (Roots SC). I was putting down just 350/430 to the wheels and was running consistent 11.6's. But that was spending quite a bit more than $4,300 to get it there. LOL

You can get a lightly modded SHO (DP's, High Boost, Race Fuel, Super Aggressive Tune, drop the exhaust from the DP's back, and strip the interior) into the very high elevens. It is hard, but doable.

Remember, the SHO is a heavy pig. It takes big tq to get her moving, and big hp to get her moving faster. I would rather spend the money, and know I can run deep into the 11's full weight, in comfort, at anytime. Plus a 500/500 awd car is going to really hard to beat in the Street Light to Street Light Grand Prix. The power gains in these cars are remarkably cheap compared to what I used to build.

We should start seeing track times soon. I think the 500/500 (SBS and 802SHO come to mind) cars will run in the 11.30 to 11.50 range at a quarter tank of fuel and full interior. Jordan will strip his SHO and with his mods should be in right with them. Once he gets turbos, I think it will be a race between Jordan and 802SHO to be the first to click off a 10 second pass.

Its an exciting year for the SHO for sure. A lot of 11 second competition out there. A 10 second SHO is seeming more and more plausible. Cant wait!

the last .5 to get to 10's is a mountain of time when it's already pushed this far. you will need 0 or LESS DA. with the way may car is set up right now I gain just over .1 per 1k of DA and have yet to run under 3300' DA. so seeing their best times are already at 0 DA I don't see 10's but maybe lower 11's. by no means am I rooting against them. I love what the guys do for the sho's and all of their knowledge they share.

I agree, but Jordan and Andrew are crazy enough to put it on the line and do it. I think within a calendar year, we will see a 10 second Ecoboost SHO. With all of the meth Andrew has, and now turbos, (think he has already gone 11.7xxx) and intercooler upgrade, he should be in the 11.30 range. With a upgraded pump and weight reduction, that .30 second can be eaten up really quickly.

I usually don't post about the ST on this forum, however this story is too good to not post.

The Focus ST got some action by a Fiesta ST, and sadly my ST got walked by the Fiesta ST twice yesterday. At a street light a red FiST came next to me and gave me the BOV business end. It had black limo tint windows, upgraded BOV and exhaust from what I could hear. Like and idiot I left traction on. Light turned green, I spun really bad in first gear and when I short shifted second (FiST was already two cars out on me) traction control killed the power and I got freight trained. I laughed so hard, and said to myself, "yep that just happened."

Got to the next light, and the window to the FiST was down. Very petite blonde girl with these stunning blues is staring at me. I am in utter shock, and instantly smitten. First thing out of her mouth was, "You left the traction control on huh?". With much embarrassment and ego checked I said, "Yep, like an idiot". She starts laughing, and said well turn it off and give it another go. I said okay. Couple lights down with traction control off, she proceed to leave me AGAIN. This time, I short shifted second and it spun, and I didn't hook it until third. She was out on me by four to five cars now. I ran the top of third and only got one or two cars back, but she had me dead to rights.

Next light we exchanged car info. She has as a catback, short shifter, tune, booma BOV, drag radials, and now my heart. I asked if she goes to the PAV's on Saturday, and she said yes. I told her, I will see you Saturday, and I will bring my ST's big brother the SHO...lol.
