So my Y pipe (coolant return) hose busted below the manifold. After removing those two hoses attached to the heads and replacing them with a T elbow (note pics). I went ahead and replaced the PCV line to surge tank. I also replaced the 2 lines that run from valve covers to the t elbow and then over to the intake (broke when I removed the clamps) When I put it back together I discovered my surge tank has 2 gaskets. One below the insert tubes of the surge tank, and one attached to the top of the tubes inside the surge tank.
I have a whistling sound coming from the surge tank or upper lower intake manifold gaskets that I had no choice but to put back in. The idle is also going up and down and dropping quicker than going up. The whistle sound increases and decreases right along with the idle issue. No Check Engine Light and I would appreciate some insight. These crush gaskets say to use once but I am in a position at the moment and have to use Red RTV. Should there be 2 gaskets at the surge tank, and is it okay to use a small fine bead on those gaskets? Upper lower gaskets (2) and upper gaskets (2 but I believe there should be 1). See attached pics of hose replacement and this suspect extra gasket.
I have run the car since reassembly. I burped the cooling system which for the record is not leaking now and the T elbow is working until my y's show up in 14 to 21 days. I now however have the air leak and am pulling my hair on the 2 gaskets at surge tank. Any help is appreciated greatly as I know the experience is huge in this SHO community.
