Nope, there are a few 500+ HP SHOs...

BPD1151 has a dyno run over 600HP!!!

But certainly one of the higher HP SHOs out there for sure. It has enough head room on the turbos and fuel to go well over 500... but I personally wanted some wiggle room lol so Matt sent me a mild tune..

Educate me a bit on the performance side of the world. Through the years I've been educated that stoichiometric air–fuel mixture of 14.7:1 is the golden number. In the run it looks like most of the pull it was in the 12.5:1 range. Is that a function of the E30 fueling? No dangers associated with running lean at that ratio/no knock retard? It's kind of a bitch, I've been a new car Tech for over half my life but been away from playing with performance cars for nearly as long and I find myself having to relearn old tricks and apply them to new technology. Pretty impressive numbers for a little 3.5L engine, things have come a long way

Matt Robinson has all the data about AFR's etc... I know there was a holy war between LMS.. and well the rest of the tuning community concerning AFRs... LMS is the only one still saying that 11.7:1 is required for direct injection motors.. everyone else is saying 12.5:1 on DI motors is just fine.. just depends on who you want to believe... although science is on the side of 12.5:1 for DI motors...

617awhp.

But car is currently at LMS under going addt'l dyno work. So that # may increase.

Besides, don't want to muck up SBS's accomplishments, and this thread is about his work with GH and what not.

So back on point.

Trans and PTU can hold up to these power levels? I'm asking cause a buddy of mine just did heads/cam/boltons to his G8 and put down 443rwhp and now thinks he's God. Would be nice to eventually smack him down. 485awhp should be plenty to completely humble him, haha.

In short, YES.

However, that said, a strict maintenance regimen is of utmost importance though.

Even with more frequency than you'd think.

So frequent fluid changes... like every 5000 miles or less?

Was planning on doing Amsoil fluid flushes on the trans/PTU/diff at 20k, and every 5k miles after that.

Would that be good enough? If not, suggestions?

Seems reasonable.

Recalling past posts, from others, over several years a lot of it has depended upon either A.) Owner's own abilities at DYI, B.) Owner's who aren't DYI and being able to locate a shop that would perform the fluid swaps.

It has helped that some dealerships have begun performing these services as well, since for the longest time FMC claimed (in particular with the PTU) that it was allegedly a lifetime fluid.

All that said, I personally have swap the PTU and RDU fluids twice per year. Regardless of mileage. Once in beginning of Spring, then beginning of Fall. I now no longer DD my SHO, so I've dropped this down to once per year.

The trans fluid I would drain and fill, every other oil change. The fluid is so reasonably priced, and this service is as easy, if not easier, then doing an oil change that it seems silly not to.

Fresh fluids. Consistently at that, will prove beneficial to your level(s) of enjoyment for years to come.

Noticed some seepage around the HPFP after the fiasco of the bolt breaking...

Removed pump...

Found the gasket between the spacer and stock plate to be torn. Probably damaged after the initial incident but fully deteriorated after being put back together...

Also cause I’m paranoid I quadrupole checked the threading on the right side, still have plenty of good thread left.

Double checked all gaskets for the 6th time...

Bolted all back together with new O-ring. Test drive and reinspect turned out good...

Thus far my impression of the XDI pump itself is good, datalogs show it’s holding pressure better than the LMS pump. However, the hardware that comes with it is junk.
