I fixed your comment. Lol.

I dont think they are junk. They are more robust than the 35 it seems, however there are more 35's that 50/55's out there. Like anything they have weak points that have been slowly fixed. Same with the engine.

In reality every auto is junk as they all break.

In my research with my trans replacement they have not been getting fixed. The 2013+ 6F55's are actually getting worse. There are far more transmissions failures in the newer cars then the 2010-2012 cars. Me and Shodded spoke about this and I am pretty sure he will chime in.

The PTUs have definitely had more issues with the 2013+ than 2010-12. Failures within the b2b warranty. I do not think the transmissions are affected, but definitely something is going on with the PTUs. Not like Ford has not been working to improve them, as seen by the revisioning, but ... It's a headscratcher 4 sure.

As far as start stop on the 50/55s, I have to check the Edge application, at least 2015 onward. The 55 is paired to the 2.7 in the sport, not sure if start stop has been implemented or not.

Back to the subject at hand... ;)

Seems this 2018 is a bit more "planted" in the back than my 2016 was, more like my 2013 was. I don't know what it was about the 2016, but overall, it just seemed to have that "slapped together" approach, maybe because it was already looking like it was going to be discontinued, and it was a short production run having to compete with the Explorer at the same factory.

As for that "planted" feel, I dunno - I always had a feeling they left out some of the PP parts. Just a gut feeling.

They could have made a SHO st or rs. I'm kinda happy they didn't. See, I dont get a discount on the performance cars. To me the sho was intended to be a sleeper. Maybe I could go as far as to say it's similar to the mustang SVO. A few tweaks here and there and someone's butt will be hurt.

I have over 80K on my 2016 which I special ordered in 16. I still dont think I'll mess with it.

I'll comment here only because I rented a 2018 Edge titanium with the 2.7 ecoboost for 2 weeks. The start /stop was implemented. I absolutely hated it to the point where the first thing I'd do after starting up the engine was to turn it off immediately.

When at a stop and the engine stopped, heat/AC would also stop. So good luck if you're trying to warm up or cool down. When you start to give throttle and the engine fired up, it'd immediately Rev then drop, only to then respond to the throttle input. The noticeable turbo lag was needlessly exaggerated as a result. It made for a terrible driving experience in town.

If I ever get a turbo vehicle with it offered, I won't get it. If I'm required to take the option as part of a package or trim, I'll have a technician turn it off by default before taking delivery. I was not impressed.

I rented a Jeep Cherokee with start/stop and it was terrible.

That sounds like a poor design. I rented an Audi in France that had the stop/start feature. But if the AC was running it did not shutdown when coming to a complete stop.

On my third Gen IV SHO - just picked up a 2018 SHO w/PP in Magnetic.

Last two were a 2013 PP in Tuxedo Black (loved the paint), a 2016 with Shadow Black (meh), and now a 2018 in Metallic (love it). All leases.

Love the color. Everything else about the car is the same as my 2016 and 2013, except the 2018 doesn't have the multi-contour seats.

When I got the 2016, I thought they weren't going to make any more after 2016, or maybe 2017, so I vowed to buy it at the end of the lease. However, they kept going until 2019, and I got a great deal on the 2018 as a leftover. X-plan, plus $6500 off.

Better than a 2019 for a few reasons: $6500 off, instead of only $2000 (dealer lot). Has the rear window shade, which when I got my 2013 I thought was frivolous, but turned out, I actually liked using it. Power steering extend/tilt. Both gone for 2019.

Multi-contour seats are gone, for 2018 (or maybe 2017, I can't remember). Not to be missed, as the one time I used them for an aching leg while driving for hours, it didn't do squat. No loss.

A few things "wrong" with the car when I picked it up today. Rear Ford emblem is scratched pretty deep. Driver's door is not aligned at the bottom with the rear door, sticking out about 1/8". I can tell where the rear door seemed to be adjusted (scratches in the paint from the bolt head). Dealer will take care of both issues.

I think I'm going to keep this one ;)

I just came across a 2018 sitting on the lot for a bit. Same color, love it! Once my PTU is replaced on my 2014 I'm going to see what i can work out. The only subtract from my 2014 is the multi contour seats, which i do use, but could learn to live without.

Nice ride, congrats on picking this baby up looking for a home. You might has inspired me to have the wife be ****** yet again

The non-multi-contour seats in my 2018 seem to actually be more comfortable than my previous Taurii. As in, I sink into them a little more, making it easier to take hard turns without sliding all over. The one thing I think Ford truly missed on the SHO - seats with more of a bucket to them.

Thanks! Glad I could help! ;)
