Did you try a direct email to Josh or a message to him through the forum? I'm not sure how much he is selling directly through his website these days. I know the shosource guys were selling some of his products. Maybe they can help you.

I just went to contact on the website and sent an email to there website email. I don't know his personal email or username on the forum.

The board changed a while ago but I think if you go to a members profile page, click on the information tab and click on start a conversation it is the same as the old private message function. When you use private message it posts in the member's inbox on the forum, but also sends a message to the members personal email that they registered with the forum when they signed up, to let them know there is a message posted for them. It can be very effective for private conversations and directly contacting members that don't visit the board frequently

Thank you. I sent a PM to "SHONUT". I really hope they get back to me. I spent $40 on the DVD, so I really don't want that to go to waste, and I really want to get my car done.

I have a Word document from Bizzy that gives lots of details on transmission disassembly that includes figures and even a couple of pics IIRC, can try to upload it if it isn't posted here already somewhere. I know there is a pin or fork or something that must be in the correct position on reassembly. Test the trans on the bench by using a punch or a screwdriver to turn and push/pull the shift shaft when you first get it back together.

The anaerobic sealant takes a while to set, you can usually disassembly it right away and wipe off with brake cleaner.

What part of the country are you in there might be a local "consultant"

That would be awesome, thanks! I am located in Sonora CA. On the Northern half in the Sierras. About 2 hours from Sacramento, and and hour east of Modesto. If there is anyone who could help, theyre probably located in somewhere in the Valley. But if anyone would be able to help out, that would be amazing. I rarely ever see any SHOs in this little town that I live in.

Trying to remember where Nick Chrimes is located. He is a longtime professional SHO mechanic in that general neck of the woods, might be south of you.

So yes, I've worked full time on SHOs for the last 17 years, and have rebuilt many trannies, including Quaife and Wavetrac installs. A big advantage on the track, but overkill for the street as it's rare to be able to go round a corner fast enough to have them kick in. But they do overcome the diff pin problem. The Quaife went south a long time ago. Doesn't look like the Wavetrac is available, either. As an aside, it seems like the Wavetrac generates a lot less heat than the Quaife (per my experiences with the Team Dick Lemons car), to the point where a transmission cooler may not be required, unlike the Quaife (per my track car).

First off, I'd give the Traction Concepts LSD a wide berth. If you look at its pic and that of the Phantom, they are identical. The Phantom has already proved to be a piece of crap.

Second, the shop manual does an excellent job of transmission assembly / disassembly. OG SHO Guy sent you some pages from the manual, but didn't cover the assembly / disassembly part. Josh's video should cover that. When you review it, I think that you will find that you had the tranny the 'wrong' way up when you took the case half off. It's normal to have the bell housing at the bottom, leaving the diff and shafts in the bell housing. Then it's a matter of grabbing the input, output and gear selector shafts all together and lifting them out as one.

Third, what might be causing the case halves not to mesh properly may be the meshlock plunger. This is a roller and spring at the top end of the gear selector shaft (assuming that the bell housing is down and transaxle case up). The roller interferes with the transaxle case, and has to be pushed in with a small punch to clear the case.

As he said. I'm surprised nobody stepped in and linked the factory disassembly procedure in the manual rather than diagrams. For future reference go download alldata and "figure" out how to use it for free. You'd still be better off printing out the pages but everything you need is there. Having the FSM's and alldata is invaluable.

Eventually with a reinforced diff the spider gear teeth will shear if you are very ******* the car. I have no idea of the condition of the spiders before the teeth sheared but I know it was tough driving with a locked diff for a couple weeks after they sheared. It's nearly as bad as driving without power steering if not worse.

Through the video you should be able to determine what went wrong, but use the manual as well.

I wish I had a copy of that video for my quaife install but the same thing happened to me recently no reply to emails, and refund in the end. I guess I didn't spend enough money.

Don't forget that if the diff gets changed, either for another diff or LSD, the diff bearing preload needs to be redone. SHO Nut sells or rents the tool and a set of preload shims, which I also have. BTW, they are still selling the Wavetrac. Correction to my previous post.

Another correction: SHOTime 95 lives in Sonora which is 2 1/2 hours away from me. Not Sonoma.

Wow, thanks for the helpful info!! I want to get a wavetrac or quaife at some point in the future, but for now, I'd like to just get it back together. I don't know if I'm missing something, but in the DVD (which just arrived today), Im not seeing any information on how to take apart/reassemble the transmission. Just a video on how to perform the 60k and how to replace the clutch. I skipped through both of them and I can't find anything.
And I had the bell housing side up. I was able to pull it apart about an inch, then I took a punch, and tapped out the little roll pin that connects the first shift fork to the gear shift selector I think. Then I slid it off the shaft as I pulled the case half the rest of the way off. I really felt like I was doing it right. It seemed like it would all just go back together in reverse order no problem, since everything seemed perfectly in place from when I took it apart. But apparently not. I just need to know the correct procedure on how to do it, I really hope I'm just missing something on this DVD.

I would really like to have the procedure. Even if it just a written up procedure. I don't think the DVD has the transmission disesembly/reassembly on it. Even Though it says "Taurus SHO MTX Quaife/Clutch Combo" on it. I really hope I'm missing something, or that's just extremely disappointing.
I wish I had this manual you are referring to, because I can't find any service manual's for this specific car. I did in fact print out almost every page from Alldata on this car when I was taking some automotive classes. Everyday I'd print out like 10 pages, punch holes in them, and stick them in my binder I made for this cars maintenance. I didn't see and procedures when I looked through it though. Just diagrams on the transmission.
I don't think I was very ******* the car, although I did do a burnout or 3 when I first got it. Then I read about the diff pin problems, and stopped doing that. I just drove the car spiritedly. I accelerated hard occasionally, and zipped around town, that was about it. I'd take her on lots of road trips to the bay area and coast a lot. Then one day, after work, I was just driving back home, and just as I'm almost home BOOM. It happened. Felt like I drove into a big rock or something.

If only I knew about you when it was up and running. I'd drive it to the bay area and coast alot. I am basically at the mountain range 2 1/2 hours east of you.

So buy this off eBay: https://tinyurl.com/y9ppntox

It's a '94 Helms shop manual that will contain all the procedures. Close enough to your '95. Indeed, any Gen 2 will suffice.

My order that was cancelled had the shims, video a clutch disc. I looked up the carrier bearing cup size and I purchased a differential shim kit for a diff that takes the same dimension bearings and I got it right the first order. It may have been for a ford 8.8, but i'd have to look it up.

I'll post the pictures later when I have time. I'll take schreenshots off alldata or pictures of my 89 manual. There are some tricky parts you'd not be able to figure out without this unless you had an amazing memory. Some things aren't mentioned like assembling the case halves IIRC, the trick to get it that last little bit you have to put a punch in to depress a ball or detent IIRC.

I just looked at alldata and it isn't as good as the 89 repair manual I have. There are more images. I'll have to take pictures after I find it.

If I didn't have these directions i'd have never got it. I couldn't find the'89 manual, this was easier to find.

I have obtained the missing file for my DVD from SHO NUT. Tomorrow morning I will pull the transmission back out, pull it apart, and properly reassemble it. I will post more pictures as I go along and keep you guys updated. Thank's so much for the help so far, I really appreciate it.
