How do I know if a 2013-2015 SHO has the preformance package?

I am new to the SHO world and I am looking at getting a used 2013-2015 Taurus SHO. I am wandering is there a way to know a vehicle has the upgraded sport package. Is there a way to run the VIN or are there obvious features that stand out and identify a SHO with the upgraded sport package.

Welcome!

The axle ratio is different on the performance package. The axle ratio is reported on the door tag. Search for a thread that provides all the details, its all on the forum.

Go to etis.ford.com and run the VIN it's a build sheet just look at the gear ratio. Or you could look at the door for the gear ratio or look for the oil cooler or alcantra steering wheel.

ETIS access has been cut off.
I thought it was just me, I tried every few weeks when I remembered and it didn't work. Good to know so I can stop trying. I'm glad it worked when I was shopping around.

Is the "preformance" package installed BEFORE any other package?

PERformance.

And whaddya mean by "before" any package?

There is no preference on the assembly line. The cars roll right on down, and either man or machine pulls from the respective parts bin(s) and zippity zip zip, up and in they go.

I've been blessed with multiple tours of the CAP, both "official" ones, as well as more in depth, "unofficial" ones, and I've never noted a preference.

The packages, as well as options, etc. are all there on each and every individual build sheet for the car right in front of (again, man or machine) at that given moment.

Ahhhhh got it. I need to lay off the beers.

I'm in shock that the BEARS are actually winning this week.

I think my sho came with the preformance package with prebroken front struts and control arms. Lol yes I'm laying on the couch bored out of my mind on a Sunday trolling the forums.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the most easiest way to determine a PP car is by looking right into the grill - and if you see some additional cooling lines in front of the radiator it's a PP car - these lines are for the oil and tranny cooling system found only on PP cars.

I can clearly see them on my PP car.

From the 2013 Taurus brochure:

SHO Performance Package includes performance friction

brake pads, sport-calibrated steering, AdvanceTrac® electronic

stability control “Sport Mode” setting, 3.16:1 final drive ratio,

Alcantara® suede-trimmed steering wheel, 20" machined and

painted aluminum wheels with P245/45R20 Performance

Summer Tire Compound and tire sealant/inflation kit (n/a with

adaptive cruise control)

I find it interesting there is no mention of the additional coolers.

This is from Road & Track when they did a review of the SHO with PP option:

"Extra track-day heat is carried away by a pair of water-to-oil coolers plumed into a radiator core with extra capacity. One helps the PTO on the transmission to run 16 percent cooler, and the other cools the engine oil."
