I'm about to install my Snow Performance stage 1 kit. Am I understanding correctly that people have been using their washer fluid reservoir instead of installing the meth tank? The reservoir is then used for the windshield and the engine? Is the 50/50 water/meth ok to spray on the windshield?

So the washer fluid tank will supply both the windshield and the engine, correct?

Also, how can I know if the pump ever goes out? That could be bad. Is there a relatively cheap way to monitor that?

Wrong.

They DO NOT SUPPLY BOTH (the meth and the washer fluid).

If you choose to use the windshield washer reservoir for your meth tank (which most do) then if you wish to retain windshield washer fluid capabilities, then you MUST USE the secondary (& significantly smaller) secondary tank that is supplied with most all meth kits you choose to purchase.

This secondary tank would require the end user to remove the OEM pump from the OEM tank, and then mount it on the secondary tank. The end user would also need to change up the wiring as well, in order for all to function correctly.

As far as being able to tell if your meth is low, most kits supply a low tank sensor, as well as, or in addition to that, a separate LED that also indicates when the tank is low.

From my understanding (which isn't too great as my meth kit hasn't come in) the meth pump is gravity fed. Is there anything stopping someone from tapping into the stock washer fluid reservoir and adding a line from there to the meth pump. Then one could use the stock plumbing for wiper fluid and the added tube for the meth injection. I cannot say I looked into it too much but that has been my plan all along.

Exactly what I was thinking

That is exactly what I did and it works great.

Doable? Sure.

A lot of that depends on your tuner I would say. With LMS, they have ALWAYS recommended the use of 100% Methanol. So from that vendor alone, you would not want to comingle the two.

I would also purport that tapping a line off of/from the OEM washer reservoir, and using that one tank, for both purposes is also less than desirable overall.

Why? Well all I can say is that once your on the meth train, you'll be surprised how much you actually go through.

You'll want to retain that entire volume for exclusive use of your meth system alone.

Having performed this install myself (with the help of a very close friend who is a master mechanic) I can speak from experience that running a 2nd smaller tank for washer fluid, and utilizing the OEM tank for the meth system is really not all that difficult of an installation.

Tapping a 2nd line and drilling holes into your OEM tank as your sole source is going to be more tedious as you will have to ensure no leaks result. Just seems like more work.

So all in all, sure anything is doable, but what's better is completely subjective. One must look at their skill level, their intended use, and parlay that with what your tuner recommends.

Make sense?

Makes sense. I was really just trying to verify there wasn't something in the install that I didn't know about that would prevent me from going that route. I drive my car a few thousand miles a year and I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've used my wiper fluid in two years so I'm fine with spraying a little meth on the windscreen once or twice a year (if that). At $3/gallon for 100% meth, I think it might be cheaper than the blue wiper fluid from AutoZone.

I went for my first test drive (haven't uploaded the updated tune yet) and I didn't notice much of a difference. Is this normal? The indicator light says it's spraying.

I guess I'll have to load the updated tune and try again. I guess I just figured that the meth and water alone would add some ponies.

Not at all you would be flooding the system with extra fuel that isn't being accounted for.

So I updated the first meth tune and I still don't see much of a difference. Does the big difference come after data logging and getting a revised tune?
