I've been planning to buy a 2010 sho. It's a black 2010 with navigation. Problem came last week when I was leaving to pick it up, ran a carfax and found it was wrecked in 2011 with 20,000 miles. It now has 94,000. I called the dealership that performed the repairs and was emailed an invoice for repairs they performed. As of now my buy price is $15,200 which is about $2000-3000 less than I'm able to find them for in my area and most are white and I'd prefer the black. Also it still has a clean title(not salvaged or rebuilt ect.) I've looked the car over multiple times and it looks as if the accident was minor and repairs performed by the ford dealer were top notch. Damage was to the rearend and there was no actual frame damage but it did slightly bend the end of the bumper frame rails and they were straightened(just the flat mounts on the end, no more than 2" in.)Just looking for others thoughts on the overall price. NADA is $16,000. Thanks for any help/advice/ or comments. I plan to pick it up tomorrow unless I find a major problem. On the test drive it drove straight with hands off the wheel, no odd noises, and handled great. Only small issue was it pulls VERY slightly to the left when on the breaks hard(and that was hitting the breaks hard at about 110mph hands off the wheel). I'm no genius but consider myself pretty comfortable working on/diagnosing cars, never taken a car to a shop for repairs. Just looking for thoughts on the price being right. I will try to attach the invoice from the repairs in 2011. The invoice overlaps slightly from page 1-2. Thanks again

Check the tires and alignment for the pull. But if it looks great, and drives great, next step is the warranty you will get. Without warranty, you could be in a whole bunch of trouble unless you are an avid DIY'r. Ford warranty is best.

Also, I don't see parking aid sensors or rear camera listed. I assume they were somehow unaffected by the accident?

This is what ETIS is showing for this car:

Wow...the prices must be higher in your area. That sounds like a VERY high price for a 2010 with 94,000 miles and an accident repair record. Not trying to dissuade you but I am shocked at that price. Maybe I need to come to your area when I am ready to sell my 2010 MKS!

NADA is close to $16,000 and the books are a little low compared to the actual market in our area, so $15,200 is a little high but not much for a car that has had significant damage.

Note that what you posted above is just the Supplement to the original damage repair estimate, not the entire thing - there was another $5000 of repairs that were done. The fact that they replaced the rear header panel means it was damaged worse than they originally thought when they estimated it. The good news is that they replaced the panel rather than leaving it wrinkled. However, they repaired the rear floor pan, so I would look closely to see if there are still wrinkles in that. The fact that it has been driven another 70k miles since then is a good sign that the car drives right.

What I would be most concerned about is the quality of the paint job on the repair. It has been long enough that you will be able to find signs of an inferior quality paint job, if it is - fading, peeling, blistering, color match issues, etc. I would look very carefully for that and if that all looks perfect, then move forward. However, if I find paint issues, I would move on to another candidate, because paint issues are expensive to fix and very annoying to me on an expensive car.

Thanks for the advice. I did not see any wrinkling. The paint looks flawless and I've tried over and over on different days and different lighting to find a difference in paint and can not. I have service records since day one, it's always been serviced at the ford dealership and doesn't seem to be eating hubs, cv's, ect. I am heading back down there soon to give it a final look and talk with them about the price. I appreciate the input. I was just curious what current owners would think of that price.

Also SHOdded I didn't see anything on there about replacing or repairing the bumper cover, just the bumper clips, but surely they must have replaced the bumper if it bent the rail tabs. The only things that show it had ever been in and accident are the bumper rail ends and I can see they didn't replace the trunk and realigned it so the paint around the washers on the trunk to trunk hinge(slight half moon of no paint) were what sparked my suspicion.

Make sure the sensors and camera are working then. What warranty is on the table?

Price seems okay (not taking into account the collision), and owning a used car means owning other peoples' problems, but I'd probably pass unless they dump the price or if you need transportation immediately.

Yea I know it wasn't the best deal but I had to buy something soon. It was $1,200 less than nada. Your buddy got a steal. NADA on a 2013 with 23,000 miles is $27,000. I wish I could have got a deal like that but in the st.louis area you are lucky to find a dealer selling at nada or even close. So far I haven't found any major problems(fingers crossed). I will be putting it on the lift tomorrow to check everything out a little better. It's to late to go back now and hopefully I didn't get bent over to bad. So far I'm happy with it but only 500 miles in its to early to be sure.

My 2014 with 28,00 miles was $26.5k (a couple of thousand under book value at the time). And your friend's 13 was wayyyy under priced, retail is almost 27k:

NADA Values 2013 Taurus SHO w/27,000 miles
(minus mileage plus the addition of some options)

Rough Trade-In $21,075
Average Trade-In $22,475
Clean Trade-In $23,600
Clean Retail $26,600

Congratulations! Provided the car was repaired properly and initial damage was minimal, your price was definitely ok. You didn't get ripped off.

Congrats on your SHO! Soooooo now I am too in the market for a newish SHO because my Red SHOfia got in to it with a another car.
It was totaled and my insurance paid it off. I'm all in one piece just a minor scratch on my nose from the airbag.

Now I'm looking at 2013 or newer SHO for the right buck. All the SHO's that I came across here in Texas go about 23k-30k. I think I found the one but want you guys opinion on it.
It's a 2015 w/13,500 miles on it. The dealer has it priced at 27.8k and I was able to negotiate it down to 25.8. Should I pull the trigger guys?? My price range was max 22k but I feel like the extra 4k is worth it since the car is fairly new. Don't know if it's a PP! How would I check?

Wow, sorry to hear, JoE, hasn't been long since you had her ... Glad you are a-ok, these cars are well known for serving.

The 2015 price sounds good if it is in pristine condition. The dealer should have a window sticker that will tell you if it has the Perf Pkg on it, but you can also check the VIN at
https://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleSelection.do#

You will see in the summary at top the 3.16 final drive, which is a dead giveaway for the Pkg. There's other hints for sure, but that is the big honkin' sign.

Thanks SHOdded I was looking all over for that website. In my understanding I thought all PPs came with the oil cooler. I looked up the car and it does have the 3.16 axle ratio but when I do a word search and scan for oil cooler it say "less oil cooler"
Either way I'm going to the dealership tomorrow to wheel and deal some more. I will let you guys know the outcome. Maaaaan I really miss my SHO! I'm stuck driving a mountain of a truck Excursion.
Thanks rubydist!
