Looking at buying a SHO, but seeing a lot in my search that are listed as a "Corporate Fleet Vehicle" and that's a bit ambiguous. Ford dealers just wanna push the sale and blow up your email with spam rather than address it and used car lots say it's not a rental. So what is it? Dealer loaner? Dealer GM car? Car Mag tester?

That SHOULD mean driven by a Ford employee, but yeah, don't know for sure.

I just purchased one a few weeks ago...it was out of Michigan and driven by a Ford Exec. I found his name on the insurance card inside the book and did a little research online. Mine was taken care of very well. 2014, Dark Side Metallic, 401a package, moonroof, nav and 20' wheels. Picked it up for $29K!!! Just too good of a deal for me to pass up.

Yes, seeing them for a few K under market value. Curious if they are just unloading because they are auction cars or because there is a stigma with "corporate fleet" and are worth less.

I don't care for the tech pack, would prefer the perf pack. How do you like the dark side? Does it really pop green in the sun?

"corporate fleet vehicle" may mean any of the following: 1. a 'rental' car from the fleet of someone like Hertz, Enterprise, etc. 2. a car from any large company that provides cars for employees as part of their compensation like GE, IBM, Ford, etc. 3. a vehicle that was purchased or leased by any individual but titled in a company name.

we find that it depends on what state they were registered in, some states lump them all together and some will distinguish between "corporate fleet" and "rental". the CarFax information is only as good as the data in the databases from which they draw.

as always, I can pull CarFax for people if you cannot get it another way. if you pm me a vin, you must also include your real email address so I can send you back the report via pdf.

I love the Dark Side Metallic paint. It's like 3 different colors in one paint job. Most of the time it looks black, but depending on the angle and light, it looks green or blue as well. It is awesome!

The SHO I purchased a few weeks ago were listed on the carfax as "corporate fleet" as well as 2 more SHO's on the lot and 2 more at their sister dealership. I knew the salesmen and asked him what that meant exactly. He told me it was driven by ford employees at the Ford HQ. The navigation had all Dearborn, MI and surrounding areas as recent destinations. Mine also was a dark side metallic, 401a option group, NAV, sunroof, 20" wheels and multicontoured seats.

Kyle04 is correct. Both my '98 and '14 SHO's were both corporate fleet vehicles and were driven by ford execs. I actually watched my '14 run through the manheim Detroit auto auction and it was being sold by Ford motor credit.

Had the corporate fleet vehicle ever been titled before you got it, or did it come with the manufacturers Certificate of Origin (MCO)? A car delivered with an MCO is considered a new car, even if it has been driven. A previously titled car is a used car. If the dealer handled the DMV work, you may not have seen these documents.

Mine was titled to and registered to Ford Motor Credit (Southfield, MI). (I found the registration paperwork in the glove box) Insurance was in the name of the Ford executive who drove the car...an older gentleman who's worked for Ford for many years. I googled his name. :)

my point from post #5:

if it is titled and registered to Ford Motor Credit, it is a "corporate fleet vehicle" because of being registered to FMC.

if it is titled to FMC and registered to another company, it might be a "corporate fleet vehicle" that was leased in the name of that other company. however, some states use the term "corporate lease vehicle" and some states use the term "lease vehicle"

if it is titled to FMC and registered to Enterprise or some other car rental company, depending on the state it might be a "corporate fleet vehicle" or a "corporate lease vehicle" or a "rental" vehicle.

just being termed a "corporate fleet vehicle" does not guarantee that it was part of Ford's fleet of vehicles.

and, if you found the registration or insurance information from a previous owner in the vehicle, then the dealer from which you obtained the car was guilty of a felony for not protecting the private information of a previous owner/leaser of the vehicle. nothing with personally-identifying information (name, address, etc.) is allowed to be passed on to a new owner - the feds have gotten quite hard-nosed about that, for good reason with all the identity theft stuff that goes on.

^ It's more common than you think. When I was looking at a car a dealer just got, I saw the customers info. Even my last car had the previous owners insurance card in it.

I'd traded in and sold a few cars myself over the years and I've never left any personal papers to include registration or insurance documents. Surely the Ford executive had some responsibility in taking those items out before he turned the car back over to Ford. And, for the record, the papers were inside the manual, not outside in the glovebox or attached to the outer case. I can't really blame the dealer...they would have had to open the case and then take out the stack booklets to simply find the paperwork.

Protecting sensitive security information is their job. If that means opening a pretty little glovebox and getting their hands dirty.....TOO BAD!!! Bad on the returnee for not checking and Double BAD on the dealer for not taking a few minutes to pay attention to detail.

I was stuck on the SHO Perf Pkg, but I may be forgoing it for the Driver Assist. Just thinking about driving this in the winter for 4 months, the 19" A/S would prob be best and the Driver Assist should help with resale. So I've narrowed it down to 3. We'll see which wants to play ball.

I guess I've never heard of a dealer being charged with a felony for leaving a piece of paper from a previous registration...and I don't know any specific law that states a dealer must remove a name of a previous owner left in a vehicle...whether it be in the owners manual, tucked in the seat, trunk, wherever. I've seen many vehicles with information in them to include service records with names, hand-written notes with names, etc.

Good luck and I hope you get what you're looking for at a great price. I test drove 3 SHOs and made my decision on the color and then it took a couple of days of going back and forth on the phone before we came to an agreement. There are some killer deals out there on used SHOs.
