Been experiencing sporadic ABS engagement of the front left wheel under normal braking conditions for a while now. Especially under really light braking such as when coming to a stop. Last week when the temps were below 20, the ABS light came on and after a few minutes turned off and hasn't reappeared since. Any ideas? Thinking the sensor for that wheel is starting to go bad want to know if anyone has experienced the same thing?

Pads and rotors were replaced a couple of months ago but this condition was present before that. ABS seems to want to act up under fairly light braking when no lock up is even remotely in the equation.

Would it even engage with a failing pump? Wish the light would've stayed on long enough to be diagnosed.

Check the ABS rings on the CV shafts for missing or broken teeth.

My ABS light has been coming on when the weather gets cold. Usually on for about 5 minutes then goes off. Has done it since I owned it, just figured it didn't like cold weather. I do once in awhile get the pulsing pedal when I brake, haven't really worried about it, it may happen like 3 times a year.

When mine did this, I had a cracked and warped ABS ring that eventually caused los of speedo and normal trans function.

Mine has been doing this for way longer than I can remember. I always figured it was the ABS module acting up.

as i understand it, while the sensors do fail occasionally, the culprit often is the wiring or connectors that cause unstable signals.

+1 on this. I have seen this several times (especially on Taurus' or Escapes), and it can be very intermittent. Usually just a small hairline crack that is difficult to see. Good luck!
