First of all, my 1990 MTX SHO only has 46K original miles. Not that it keeps me exempt from having issues, but you catch my drift.

Anyways- I drive the car on a regular basis and have no problems whatsoever. When I park the car after driving anywhere, I smell a strong coolant odor from the passenger side. There is the slightest drip/drop of coolant below the alternator region, and some smoking from way down under that area that I can't pin-point where. I took a flashlight last night to try and find where, and it looks slightly green and wet under the water pump.

I'm not positive though because the car maintains temp perfectly, and when it was pressure tested they found nothing insignificant..

Anyone have a possible answer?

good chance the water pump is starting to leak. age is as much an issue as miles in that regard.

when the water pump leaks, it drips down the front of the engine and is very hard to find the actual 'source' of the leak.

Crank sensor failure is blamed on a leaky water pump, so definitely worth finding/confirming the source of this leak. If confirmed, may be time for an "early" front 60K.

it is leakage in water pump. Even I faced similar problem and I need to change water pump. It is right to take quick steps rather than leaving it too late:wave::wave:
