Livernois Motorsports purchased a running, 16,000 EcoBoost engine as a development piece to get a look inside the engine and develop new products for the platform.

The crankshaft looks great, the rods also look pretty good, but the piston looked like it could be the weak point if pushed hard.

This led us to the development of a new forged piston which is a 2618 material. It has much more material and revised cross section.

Looks nice. Also looks the stock piston has a lot of carbon buildup for 16k...

Very Nice. As in pushing hard do you mean, bigger turbos, NOS if possible.

Turbo mods, heads, etc.

Normally I'd prefer a shorter skirt, but in this case I'll make an exception. ;-)

This is normal with DI vehicles, but a lot of guys are running meth injection now and it helps to take care of that.

Ooooooo! Do I see an increase in piston height? Giving us higher compression?

Tom

This is a stock compression piston.

Are you going to use any coatings on the piston? Skirts, crown?

You guys have really taken the lead on Ecoboost performance, I cant wait to see what things can really do when getting to more serious mods.
