One thing I noticed, when it comes to wheel and tire widths, is that every single wheel marketed as a 7/7.5/8/8.5 wide wheel is always EXACTLY the claimed width.

And every 215/225/235/245 tire from every manufacturer, regardless of aspect ratio, or overall diameter, is always EXACTLY the same width. So no matter what, there is always EXACTLY one size tread width that works better than any other tread width for a given wheel width. Aint that cool?

Yep. that info is on the interwebs, so it HAS to be true!! :laugh_ti:

Alright guys, need some help - On a Gen 1 SHO, I'm looking at Voxx MG3 wheels and want 18x8 / 40 offset with 225/45/18 tire size. Will this work fine and clear ok in the rear?

On an 8 inch wheel i would go with a 235 or 245. A 235 will work ok on a gen 1 but i dont know if the 8 inch wheel will. 8 inches on a gen 1 might require rolling the fenders.

Those look good, Sam! How many sets of wheels do you have now?

If he lists them all, shoforum will implode.....

Anyone here rocking bbs cf's?

Just to fuel the argument on tires, the higher you profile height, the worse it will handle. Period. Every brand and even different types of tires from the same company can be different widths. I had 235/40r17's on 17x8 asa wheels on my redline. And I have 235/40r17 hankook rs2's on 17x9.5 bbs ra wheels on the bmw......the hankooks treadwidth was nearly an inch wider....

I'm thinkin' you are gonna be in trouble. In my pic above, it's a 7.5" with a 45mm offset. I believe I could have gone with an 8" rim with the 45mm offset, with no cutting. 40mm offset? Gonna be VERY close.

I forgot to add "within reason" basically, the sweet spot to me is between 50 and 35 on aspect ratio(profile).

For the crappy roads around here, I won't go below a 45-series for a DD tire. Had cracked two rims over the recent years even with 45-series.
