Front Caliper pin Stripped 93 SHO

For those that have had their front brake caliper pin strips out, there is a partial solution. Doorman/Help part #13894 is a self tapping oversized thread pin that you can use in only one of two of your caliper pins. This is because after running it in the tap, you use the Blue thread sealant, which is said to permanently lock the one pin in. Any caliper work can pivot the caliper on the one permanent pin now. The kit is usually $15.99 at Oriely's

This is very good to know, as I just experienced this with a Jeep the other day. Another guy at work had heard of this, and it saved my day! I don't remember the part number, but it could very well be the same kit! very helpful!

Eh, loaded calipers are cheap enough. Just throw away the crap pads and move on......

But loaded calipers will not help the stripped hole in the steering knuckle he is referring to.

Somebody is confused, and I'm pretty sure it's not me. There are no threaded holes in the knuckle for the brakes, only through holes. The threads are in the caliper bracket and the slider pins. I believe this kit is a remedy for a stripped slider pin bolt, and if that's the case, then loaded calipers would be the "best" way to fix it (though not the cheapest). It sounds like this will work as a band-aid to get you back on the road, but I wouldn't use it for a permanent solution. If loaded calipers aren't cheap enough for you, the junkyard is another option.

Ahh yes, forgot about the knuckle change. I haven't used or worked on any pre-'94 brakes/knuckles, so it completely slipped my mind.

Been there, done that on my Mocha when I first got it.
Yet one more reason for a "96 upgrade".

That pin design is used on a bunch of cars, like 90s dodge dakotas and some ford focuses. Easy to crossthread or overtighten and pull the threads out of the knuckle. They just need to be snug to hold the caliper in place, but people don't seem to understand that.
