You need to turn the nut clockwise (like you're "tightening" it) and the outer tie rod needs to be turned counterclockwise. Leave the tie rod bolted to the knuckle in order to break the nut loose.

If you're sitting looking at the car from the outside the jamnut will be turning clockwise. If you were underneath the car looking at the nut you will be turning it counterclockwise. Try heating it with a torch. Usually its easy to get the nut to break free from the outer tie rod, it can be quite difficult to get the jamnut to turn freely on the threads of the inner tierod.

Leverage! Double up your wrenches if you know what I mean. I had to get my angle grinder out and take off some of the nut and tie rod itself. :) Wouldn't move for me either.

Try heat? Somebody probably put red loctite on the jam nut. It comes with new outer tie rods sometimes, and I don't understand why. They think we will never need an alignment?

I had to get ahold of a nut splitter to get mine off....it happens.

How do you use a nut splitter on the nut that's already on the tie rod? The nut splitters I've seen are a closed loop how would I get it pas th outertie rod end?
