Hello All!

I was wondering if anyone has any idea of the top speed of a LMS tuned SHO?

I found myself watching all of these videos on youtube of Lamborghini Gallardo and Audi R8 running between 12.5 and 12.9 in the 1/4 mile.

then I saw videos of a Bentley continental GT running 13.26

knowing that the tuned Sho can run around 12.5 I am VERY impressed. But how is the top speed and top end power of the car. Could it compete with these vehicles on that level?

thanks

We remove the speed limiter. I have a customer in Germany that takes his on the Autobahn and I believe he said it wouldn't go over 168 mph.

No, the top speed of the Gallardo and R8 are close to 200mph so the SHO will not even come close.

A tuned but stock engine Pontiac G8 GT can go about 165-170 mph, so that speed on the German Autobahn sounds about right. The G8 is a slightly lower and lighter car, but has less torque, even when tuned.

At 168 thats pretty impressive for a heavy car running a V6 motor!! Was he using a GPS to measure his speed?

With the LMS tune, does the top end get a real nice kick as well? Like from 70+

BTW, I hope I wasn't sounding like an idiot comparing them to a few of the worlds top super cars, but hey my taurus feels like a luxury super car to me!

I have been watching those videos many times... Those guys can't launch their cars properly, the temperature must be hot and humid too. Usually, they should be able to run in the 11's no problem... But is is fun to watch and show to others : look, you see those two cars? My car can run as fast if not faster! And the truth is that in real life, many of owners of those cars never try them and don't know how to shift fast or launch properly, so we still can beat them. Ŧhe other day I did it against a Viper. Sure it can destroy me, but real life with street tires is totally different and our AWD tuned cars can surprise more people than we think!

Hey Rick- I was running the stage 3 at the time and the top end speed was 165. at about 150 you can feel the down force push the car down. was a pretty wild ride, i covered 6 miles real quick

Wow, can you imagine the force of wind at that speed -- and btw, that sudden downforce you experienced at 150 was probably a wind gust.
Imagine what that would do if it gusted on the side of your car at that speed.

In case you're wondering, I'm not busting your balls -- just trying to not lose a new member so fast and keep you around for a while so we can get to know you.

By any chance were you at a track going that fast or on some lonely stretch of road in rural Michigan?

Cheers,
C.

If am not mistaken its exactly the same size the radiator is. I never seen such a narrow inter cooler before only about 1 inch thick.

Gen 4 SHO's have intercoolers? Didn't know that. The Ford Engineers at SEMA didn't know it either. Hmmmm....

Greetings Fellow ECO Boosters!
With the Stage 3 installed, 162mph (GPS!) was where it seemed to hit a wall, but the tranny started hunting between 5th and 6th gear. I thought maybe the turbos were tapped out or possibly the wind resistance of my "Tank" was keeping it limited. Had the Stage 4+ only in a short while before the winter closed in and I reverted back to stock, will let you know how it works in the spring (after a 170 degree stat install!). Both stages pull really hard and only shows signs of relenting slightly around 150mph. I was amazed at how smooth and crisp the 4+ is, even with TQ MGMT!
I am old school and I like the way stage 3 hits solid when crushing through the gears, but the 4+ is extremely impressive, smooth and "Butt Dyno Approved!" with no complaints from the wife...after all it IS her car and she drives it every day.
I still scratch my head on you guys claiming 24+ mpg. I am lucky if I see 17mpg (wife driving of course!) Not that I am complaining, I love every bit of the car and since the pedal is stuck to the floor when I drive AND I have the PP with 3.16 gearing, can't really say anything bad about our medium sized battle wagon.
Happy Holidays! Safe travels and watch those speed traps.

I can squeeze about 21 MPG around town. On the road on cruise, I can get 27-28 depending on roads. Going through mountains of WVA to Ohio, I can get 27 on the nose. This is done with the old calculator and pencil as the onboard computer while good, isn't really that accurate.
