So what's the deal with going over 125mph and the horrible noise that the wind makes while the moonroof is open? Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe it's the little air deflector failing to hold up to all the wind?
Yeah I know, don't speed or at least do it with the moonroof closed.

Some of responses were funny no doubt, thanks for all of the valuable input! I wasn't looking for a definitive answer to a problem. I was just curious as to whether anyone else has experienced this.

Can't help with that, sorry, but thanks for all the chuckles in a very entertaining thread.:thankyou:

If I had to guess, I'd say that mine would make a horrible noise at that speed too but I'll be damned if I'll confirm it. I'll just assume that it will.

Cheers,

Seriously, if I drive with the moonroof open or tilted, it makes a wind effect that rebounces and is not bearable... I always slightly open the back passenger window about one inch and the rebouncing sound goes away and it makes the air circling and I don't need to open the ventilation...
But I agree that at 125mph, I'd keep it close!

This is what is called buffeting. Most cars are this way. Some worst than others. Yes I always have done just that. Open the rear windows a crack and it goes away. It is Air pressure. The air comes in and has no where too go to get out so the air pressure increases with the speed. The sound comes from the air inside meeting the incoming air when trying to get out. Buffeting. Its ******* the ears and sound and pressure wise.

My advise is, do not go that speed with the windows down of roof. You want streamline, no air resistance anyways for speed and gas mileage.
