Anybody have any suggestions on where to send the head unit from my 95 to have the non-responsive buttons replaced?

I know, I know..."toss that junk away and get an aftermarket head unit"

Just not interested in doing that on this car. I have searched online and just have not been able to come up with anyone who will work it.

Any suggestions?

I have had similar problems finding places to work on my Chrysler Infinity stuff. I have been collecting all the really nice cassette decks and slave cd players and wiring harness I come across in the yards. I could test one out (have like 6) and send it your way if your looking for a replacement deck. $60 + shipping.

-go to ur local Ford dealer. ask if you can have the name of the person and/or company that does their radio repairs. if they wont give it to you, ask them to call. they can usually give an estimate over the phone for refurbishing a unit, IF!!!! it is possible. sometimes we have to wait for the guy to come by to look at it, or even let them take it back to the repair center, to see if its repairable. hope this helps....

I inquired for the same thing and was told by two dealerships here that they only replace factory units if a factory defect and that the costs are too great to warrant fixing if it comes to that, they usually recommend replacing with another factory deck, or if too old an aftermarket one. I did eventually find the company who at one time did repair them (they used to do it at least) and although they still work on some car audio decks, they told me that new HU are cheaper and better. I was told by them that the GenII units were Sony products and that perhaps repair shops may have parts left over that they can cross over from Sony ones. But the parts for these decks are all long since gone and no one stocks them anymore, in addition they dont even have the schematics anymore for these. Sorry, but that was all I found out. And since it was virtually the same story from two dealerships I took it as correct.

This was what I got from Bill Strobel back in 2008:

For about a $100 Southern Electronics can fix your head unit

http://www.instrumentclusters.com/

1 day turnaround.

I believe that these are the folks that a Ford dealer used to fix my '89 unit many years ago.

I will be needing the service, as my white '89 has an aftermarket unit, and I have a dead unit from my original '89, and I want to go back to stock.
