WOW Mark! That looks FANTASTIC! You have to get a light tint for the headlights now to match! I love it on your red car :thumb:

Andrew, I really would like to do the headlights, but I have decided to go with the clear if I do Lamin-X them. Remember this stupid eye problem with my right eye...it really has cut my vision ability in low light conditions, so I just don't think I can afford to lose any of the light from the headlights, but I agree the tinted headlights would look great! Thanks.

Actually, after reading about the problems that the pro's have installing the tint, I feel that anyone could do it. Not going to BS you, it does take some time and patience, I probably pulled mine up 4 or 5 times before getting it on to suit me. I do think it is easier to install while the lights are on the car, because then you have both hands free to place the Lamin-X tint. Also, there is a lot of trimming that needs to be done, so hopefully you have had some experience using an X-Acto knife. Also, if you do trim out the clear, using a flexible straight edge will help a lot. It took me a total of about 3 hours to install, but I really don't see a reason to have a pro do it, the Lamin-X really is nice to work with, but FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!

Hey I appreciate it! I will probably order the tail and headlight kits and take a closer look to see if I think its worth the risk of me giving it a shot. I am a little scared about the darker tint on the front, but it sure does look good on the back. I am hopeful the HID lights up front will cut through the tint without being too dimmed.

Hey Jimmy,

I just had my tail lights redone because of the need to change the whole light for chrome peeling issue.
I paid the pro (who had done it the first time) 40$ to do both tail lights. it took him about 45 minutes. I removed the center parts in 10 minutes.
This time, not one bubble. The guy used two plastic «scrapers» : one with a felt over the edge, not to leave any marks and the other one he put a teflon tape on the edge to slide better and to be able to go in the corners and rounds.
He prefered to leave the lights cool down before applying it because otherwise he said the film stick too fast (which can explain why our friend mjhpadi) needed to peel them off a few times.
The guy prayed a bit of water on the lights and on the film and started from the center to apply force towards the edge of the film to make sure no bubbles were left.
Unless you are confident and have the time, I would go with a pro again to make sure that it is well done... It is like other things, the first and second time, we learn and then we are ready to do it right, but too late, our car served as the guinea pig! lol!
Let us know what you decided and show us pics to see how it turned out... I will take pictures soon and post them...
Cheers and good luck!
Steve

Good job my friend!
Now, if your vision allows it, I think your car would look even better with tinted windows... IMO, the tint lights looks lonely for now even though the job is well done...
Cheers!

P.S. When I removed the first film for the chrome issue, I reused a portion to cover the reflectors on the bottom part... On your red car, they probably look better in red though, but on my black, they needed to be cover otherwise they would drag all the attention once tail lights tinted...

Good stuff! Thanks Steve. So, on a side note, how do you guys put up those 'Thanks for the Post' posts I see below many posts? (man I can wear the word 'post' out, cant I? ;-)

You need to be logged in and then, on the bottom of the post you'd like to thank, there are 4 options : Quote, +multi-Q, Q-Reply and Thanks... just hit it and it will be added on the bottom of that posts and be accounted in points for the writer of that post.

Looks awesome Mark.....really like it. I might just go ahead with that once I get my hood stripes on soon.
Nice to chat on both.
Cheers, and thanks for all the help.

BTW Jimmy,
Be careful with tinted film and HID, they don't go together... The heat produced by HID is too high and will most likely burn the film and create bubbles and black stuff in the middle. You might want to use a very light tint for front because of HID's. That is why I have decided not to convert to HID'S and rather just buy a better performant bulb (Silvertar ultra night vision)... Be careful!

Well then somethings not right then :-(. I am logged in, but all I have are three options, quote, multi quote, and q-reply. I have no 'thanks' option? Any thoughts or ideas? I really appreciate some of the replies I see, and would like to be able to do this 'Thanks' thing.

OK, somebody's foolin with me. Now all of a sudden I got 'Thanks' as an option on posts?!? Ok, who fixed it? THANKS! :) I swear this is not an ID10T error, I searched all over and couldn't find a 'Thanks' option, and now here it is. If nobody did anything, then I am truly disappointed in my vision lol..

No it's not your vision, I think you have to have either 20 or 25 posts before you get that "Thank" option.

Yes, yes, and YES. I've been rock'n the darker tint on my SHO for months now.... here's a couple of pics from my most recent photo shoot about a month ago.....

Bpd1151,
That is one sweet SHO!:hail:, I noticed you hail from Illinois, I assume the tint on your head and tails have not been exposed to the harshness of winter? I would love to tint mine but concerned what the snow, ice and salt will do... Any thoughts or know of any one that may have the experience?

Ahhh thanks. There's some irony huh. My post to ask where the f is the 'Thanks' button, is the one that gets me access to it. Who knew?

:
In person, they're visible. I've noticed they typically occur after a healthy, spirited drive well into the three digit range(s) on the Expressway.

Isn't that a wee bit illegal?? ;)

Well, at least it is here in MI. A 110 in a 70 is a $500 ticket in St Clair county!!

That must have been the "expressway track".:p

Eh, I had the cruise set at 90 on my LGT (as high as it would go). There was NO other traffic, so I kicked it up. Even with no traffic, his visual going the other way showed I was hauling.

If I would have kept it at 90, it probably would have been fine. It was 1:45, and Thanksgiving dinner was at 1 PM, and I still had 20 miles to go (Saturday after Thanksgiving, we have Canadian relatives who work on our Thanksgiving)
