looked at what appears to be a rust free SHO out in front of a salvage yard today. it would be a major project for sure, interior is mostly missing. drivers air bag gone, most of the door cladding missing. rockers appear solid, no rust visible, not even near the gas cap. window molding in great condition.
not sure what year, probably a 95. it had good Italian slicers. drive train still there, no idea on condition.
basically, it's a solid body needing many parts.
I did not talk to the lot operators, no idea what the status is.
it's in southeast Michigan, PM me for location.

It's a Gen 2......CRUSH IT!!!!

Ron you haven't ever owned a 2nd gen have you? Just 1st's and a 3rd right? Thank midwest winters for me only ever owning 3 1st gens. On the bright side if the car gets crushed it makes both of mine that much more rare.

A rust free Gen 2 in Michigan?

I call shenanigans.

no VISIBLE rust on the outside. it was raining so getting down on the lot to check the under carriage didn't happen. all the lights were pulled so I had a good look at some of the rust prone areas. as stated, the window trim 'n molding was all in very good condition. the metal strips for attaching the rocker molding were still there, none of the holes in the door cladding areas had rust, thats gotta count for something doesn't it??
color is black, except for the green that should have been concealed under the missing drivers mirror. probably repaint on at least some of the car due to the originally green door.

it's in Lenawee County.

updated info

it's still there, here's some more info.

black/black leather 93
only about 2000 actual miles

yard is not sure what they want to do with it.

yes, I said about 2000 actual miles on a 93, ATX btw.

story goes that it was stolen then recovered about 18 years ago in the Detroit area. 'twas parked outside and neglected ever since, hasn't been started for 18 years. was recently moved from the Detroit area yard to a bit west of there. took a look under the hood today, lots of weeds (not the smokin' kind) a good layer of dust, but no rust around the air box or under the battery tray. seams all nice and clear. doglegs in rear doors clear. strips that held the rocker cladding still there.

might be a do-able project car after all.

Wow, 2k miles? Nice. Not even broken in. Did the interior look all dried out, faded, and splitting or was it in nice shape?

all interior parts and panels pulled off and stuffed back inside with a generous helping of junk.
the car is not that far from you, maybe 80 miles northeast of the Fort.

If that's 2k miles, someone should save it. That's the lowest mileage SHO* that I've ever heard of.

*Besides a new SHO, obviously, but that's a different situation.

2000 mile sho, pics are a must now

stolen then recovered way back when it was almost new, then stored outside at a salvage yard and neglected for 17-18 years? pictures aren't needed.
the really funny part is: the yard paid THIRTEEN THOUSAND $$$ way back in 94, or whenever they bought it!!!! then did almost nothing with it until recently when it was transfered to the current location.

Can I get the number to the lot please? PM me if you'd like.

I'm going to wait for a while. they haven't decided exactly what they want to do with it, and I'm trying to come up with a half-arsed reason to buy a project that will never get completed.

The things you find at random.... nice! That just says you can't write something off because it's at a salvage yard in Michigan :)

Even if the car was trash, there are some nice low mileage parts on that car that don't really wear out with time sitting, I know tons of people who would love to get their hands on stuff like that.

Yep. It sounds like it would need a total restoration to bring it back, and the the 2K mileage figure really doesn't do a lot for it. Parts should get a good $$$, though.
