Purchase a line converter that has a built in remote wire. It uses the sound from the factory speaker to turn on the amp.

since when does the sound from the speakers turn on the amp? usually the remote turn on wire is blue and it is on the factory amp. Second you tap into the rear 2 speakers if your running a line out converter.

Do as I did.

use rear speakers to power your LOC (use a voltage meter to find pos/neg) then run a remote wire with a fuse/toggle switch to your battery. That way you don't ALWAYS need your base on.

Since audio is a sinusoidal signal, a volt meter will nto allow you to determine positive and negative leads. You really need a wiring diagram for that, or speakers that have the terminals labeled. That same wiring diagram will also help identify the remote turn on lead, but it may be a logic level rather than battery voltage level. In the past, I've used a solid state relay to provide a 12V turn on voltage switched by the logic level from the factory deck.

The speaker wiring for the 2010 audio system has been provided in another thread. I have the diagram for 2011 if anyone needs it. Let me know which audio system you have as the diagrams appear to be different for Navigation or standard.

Its referred to as "Signal Sensing Turn-on". It senses music coming from your head unit, and automatically gives you a 12V output which goes to your amps blue wire to turn it on or off.

Your best bet using a line converter is to tap into a speaker set that offers full range like the rear doors. Taping into the factory sub line will give you only low frequency that the sony system deliveres. Using the a full range line will give you the ability to comtrol frequency range with your aftermarket amp.

I know I'm resurrecting a thread here, but SHOrod has exactly what I need.

Hey, I see that you have a diagram for the 2011 SHO WITH Sony Amp AND Navigation. I'm installing an aftermarket Head Unit into a 2011 SHO I just got and am having trouble getting the factory amp to turn on. I bought a metra dash kit and its out-putting the signal, but the amp wont come on.

I'm worried about hooking it up directly to my Headunit since it puts out 12v and the aftermarket kit is putting out 4.4v or something. I dont want to blow it...

Got any suggestions? Again 2011 SHO with Sony Amp and Navigation.
