In a word.....PERFECT!!
They are the Elbrus 17x7.5" 48mm offset wheels with 215/50ZR17 Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 tires (tire/wheel package from Tire Rack):
Coupla "before shots:
"After" shots:
Inside strut clearance, and fenderlip clearance (pic is at the top of the tire):
Looks like a good 1/2" on the inside. And yes, you "fatter is better" tire folks could put a 225 on this rim!! Outside fenderlip clearance is also good.
I drove around the subdivision (with the crappy potholes) with NO rubbing.
Perfect for me. No need to trim the fenderwells, plus enough clearance to not rub under track conditions.
I probably could have gone with an 8" rim, but IMO it would have been dicey on the inside, and with a 225 tire on an 8", it may have rubbed under track conditions, assuming it cleared in a static environment.
FWIW, I really didn't want to trim the fenderlip, and this worked out GREAT for me. Plus, to my eyes, the 215/50 tires almost look wider on the new rims.
